Blown Away

Great improvement this year. Many glitches in the past have been fixed. No more "circular adventures" to find needed items. I liked the straight forward approach, but got a little frustrated that my particular situation wasn't specifically mentioned in the Michigan State Pension maze. I was however, gratified that it was handled correctly even though I couldn't tell it would be until I printed the forms out. Thanks. Excellent job. I have been using Turbo Tax for over 5 years and this is the best experience I have had so far. Now if you can figure out how to do them automatically for me. Well......:) Dynodonna

What's not so great: Instructions sometimes fuzzy

Always Awesome

Once I get all my stuff together it is a breeze. We have 2 business', multiple W-2's, retirement income, and investments. Turbo tax always makes sure I don't miss a thing. When I am done, I know its complete and all forms are accurate. I will never file with out it.

What's not so great: Needs an easier way to change the 50% limit on meals to 80%

hate doing taxes without TT

Cannot check anything on TT without going online and downloading updates. Very annoying when I want to review or check on an item. This is a first and hopefully the last time for this. Also, when reopening a tax file, always taken to personal summary instead of where we left off, as it says it will. Both very annoying and very unhelpful. The first especially. I am not always able to be online when I want to check or add to my tax file.
What's great about it: makes life a bit easierh
What's not so great: cannot open without going online and downloading, every time I reopen, goes to beginning of personal info

Great product

I've used this product for many years. It steps me through all the needed areas and allows me to pick and choose what I want to work on, as well. Since we keep our tax info in one spot during the year, it doesn't take me much time to actually do the taxes, only my procrastination slows me down.
What's great about it: easy to use, answers most of my needed questions with stepwise work areas
What's not so great: Some 1099 DIV questions need research

Taxes were complete easily with download version
Download version has errors when logging in to account to pay for e-filing

Printing Confusing

Printing is printing not going to save and other places.
Just confusing. When I want to print my return it should go straight there to print.

Tried the online version first and hated it. It would not let you see the forms, only answer the questions. It did not transfer last years information and kept requiring me to upgrade so that it was going to cost twice as much as last year.
I went back to the store purchased version and was totally happy with the ability to answer questions and see the actual forms. I will continue using Turbo tax as long as they don't go to the on-line version only.

One minor hitch

Form 8824 Wksht page 2 would not let me proceed with auto trade-in "Like-Kind-Exchange" without fudging the section for "Additional Information Regarding UNLIKE-Kind Property Given Up" entries on lines U,V, X,Y, & Z. as follows:
Line U + "NONE"
Line V = 0
Line X = Checked No
Line Y = Checked No
Line Z = 01/01/2000.
Would not transmit e-file unless fudged.

What's great about it: As I expected TT handled a cross-country move and change of employment well.
What's not so great: The only problem was "Smart Wksht for From 8824" didn't handle work vehicle trade-in well.
