20 Year Customer Very Disappointed

I have been using TurboTax for about 20 years. This has been one of those years that I cannot provide a good rating (C- at best). K-1s failed to properly propagate and TurboTax failed to catch major errors on my 1095A ($2000.00), causing me about a day's worth of diagnostic work. The 1095A's did not propagate at all the first time I entered them. I think there was a problem handling two. I deleted one then reentered and it propagated. All of this nonsense caused me to lose confidence in TT's arithmetic necessitating carefully checking the 1040's computations. All of this might have been tolerable but it took precious time from business and college financial aid deadlines.
Last year, I used a tax professional because of some complex estate issues. Other than that, the last 20 years or so, I have used TurboTax so I am very familiar with the software.
I hope you do better next year.
What's great about it: Tax return was done
What's not so great: Major forms failed to appear on 1040, healthcare forms didn't work, missed huge healthcare errors and took way too long.

This was the most UN-friendly ttax program I had the misfortune to use. I have a slow cable, mandatory updates took from 30-90 minutes. Turbo Tax Must remove this mandatory feature. Mandatory save, sometimes I want to see the results of different numbers, but do not want to save the program. Turbo Tax automatically saved the file, even if you did not want the file saved. I have cautioned MAC people getting TurboTax2016. Need save option when closing.
What's great about it: Mathematics were excellent, automatically entered a lot of information from 2014 tax
What's not so great: Mandatory update and save features.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

My 4th year with TurboTax, definitely not my last! Easy to prepare, especially for this perennial procrastinator!
What's great about it: Easy to follow the instructions, just like TV ad
What's not so great: Multiple state taxes sometimes challenging

IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED

WE HAVE USED TURBO TAX (CD PURCHASES) FOR OVER 10 YEARS.
PLEASE PLACE BUSINESS AFTER PERSONAL TAXES AS IT WAS HARD TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO ADD SPOUSE AS A SEPERATE BUSINESS ON JOINT RETURN WHEN ONLY ONE SPOUSE HAD W2 INCOME.
OUR COMPUTER CRASHED IN 2014 AND DID NOT HAVE PRIOR YEAR INFO TO IMPORT TO HELP WITH THIS YEARS PREPARATION OF TAXES. WOULD BE NICE IF TURBO TAX COULD HOLD PREVIOUS YEARS INFO FROM CD PURCHASES FOR THIS PURPOSE.

For a first time... It was good

I was able to navigate thru the program with minor issues,
I was surprised when I found out that I could not use Home & Business application with my S-Corp company. Since S-Corp usually gets attached to personal taxes, it seemed that it was the most appropriate version to obtain. It turned out; however, that I had to obtain Turbo Tax for Business to deal with my situation. t wish it would have made it clear in the cover package for the version I was getting. It was misleading... By the way... Why not include S-Corp 1120-S form with Home & Business version.
What's great about it: it provided good step by step direction and helpful tips
What's not so great: The misleading option that Home & Business application could work for S-Corp

User-friendly software package!

I have used TurboTax for about 20 years. I love it. Super easy to use. Let's you pick the topics to review instead of forcing you to review every line item. Just wish you could e-mail state returns for free.
What's great about it: allows you to pick and choose the topics
What's not so great: charge to e-mail file state returns
