TurboTax - some areas to improve

As this is our first time using TurboTax, it's not clear to us whether:
1. There is auto-save of everything we have entered, just in case of power failure.
2. If after we have done with filling out federal and state information (we are at the "FILE" step), but then decide to add interest from a child's investment, will this change lead to an auto-update of our state information?
3. How to paper file for the federal return but e-file for the state return?

What's great about it: Automatic calculations and reminders of the tax items relevant to us.
What's not so great: Unclear in several areas, as described in the review

Good but could be better

Good easy to use product. The standard by which others are measured. Surprised by the ability to handle 1120S income from an LLC S Corp with Non Resident income, but could not handle Married filing jointly by Federal and Married Filing separately by state.
What's great about it: Lots of extra ability to handle forms and unique self-employment situations
What's not so great: Could not hand MFJ but MFS by state
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great Product

I have ued Turbo Tax for years and it is much easier than a CPA. I was always finding errors in their returns.
What's great about it: Easy to use with investment income
What's not so great: none
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Great for most things

We've been using turbotax for years, and our tax situation has gotten more complicated. We both have W2 jobs, and we also both run small businesses on the side, and between us get about 6 1099 Misc every year. Plus 2 investment properties both out of state. We also have investment 1099 info that comes from our money management firm that is imported. It's frustrating to import a complicated 1099-DIV or 1099-INT, then have turbotax ask me for things like "State where you earned your tax-free dividend", etc. Shouldn't that all be in the 1099? Also some weird stuff like missing the EIN on 1099's from the same payers year over year. But all in all, still recommended.
What's great about it: Importing last year's info is great. Being able to import W2's & 1099's also great
What's not so great: Frustrating when you're missing info that seems like it should have imported
