Walks Me Through Step by Step
on April 3, 2016
Posted by: dmoore12
I've been using TurboTax for many years and I have the confidence that it will take me through all the nooks and crannies so that I don't miss anything. This program is very user-friendly and surprisingly detailed. My only Con has nothing to do with TurboTax but with a reality check, if or when I don't get the deductions I would have liked to have received! Great program!
What's great about it: Asks me all the applicable and possible questions
What's not so great: Don't always get the answer I want

I skipped the question about entering previous IRA withdrawals. I could not find a way to get back to this page. spent about two hours trying to get there and finally gave up.
What's great about it: easy to follow and works
What's not so great: couldn't get back to one of the forms.

Entering easy, Printing not working
on April 3, 2016
Posted by: LEDD
Not easy to use for separate returns, and I don't think it makes good decisions as to whether to file joint or separate.
Entering info is fairly simple if you have some experience.
Printing appears to be a hassle. The first preview return I printed appeared to come off fine, but now I can't get any printing to work correctly.
What's not so great: The information will not print onto the form. I have followed all instructions, loaded Adobe, etc. NO INFO.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used Turbo Tax since the 80's and tried a few others. TTax is the best.
What's great about it: easy to work with, reliable, keeps my numbers where they are supposed to be.
What's not so great: importing info from one year to the next sometimes becomes difficult

Generally Excellent with one problem

I've used and loved Turbo Tax for many years. For some reason this time I had to add my Indiana County Tax payments to the state estimated payment worksheet. The entry for estimated taxes did not include Indiana counties as a choice, so the estimated county payments did not flow through to the state tax return.
What's great about it: As always, following through step by step makes data entry very intuitive.
What's not so great: Indiana County income taxes were not among the choices for Estimated Local Tax Payments.

TT is unbelievable - once again
on April 3, 2016

Once again TT comes to my rescue!! My one and only negative comment relates to deleting a prior entry that was carried forward for a Master Limited Partnership that had been sold. Even after I hit "DELETE" it continued to want me to enter info. It was as if a form had been generated that wouldn't go away. I contacted TT HELP and the advisor knew what needed to be done but couldn't walk me through the process. We tried to do "screen sharing" but we were not successful; I kept getting an ERROR message. I was using the CD version of "Home & Business" for Mac. I was running O/S-X 10.10.5 (Yosemite). EVERYTHING ELSE WORKED LIKE A CHARM. I HAVE BEEN USING TT FOR OVER 8 YEARS AND WOULD NEVER USE ANYTHING ELSE. Please, Please, just work on the "screen sharing" capability.
What's great about it: What is not to like? It does all the thinking and calculations for me. I was done in 2 days!!!!!
What's not so great: Entering K-1 info seems to need some work. I contacted TT "HELP". He could not get "SCREEN SHARING" TO WORK.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
