Great Return Process

Once again, my return was easy to file and the support was great. I had to contact support with questions a couple of times and they were very helpful. I ran into a problem at filing and the support person helped walk me right through the process.
What's great about it: Quick, Efficient and great support
What's not so great: Crashed on me once

Makes Tax Prep Pleasurable!

I've been a loyal TurboTax fan for years now! It keeps getting better and easier. It is a pleasure to let it "walk you thru" the taxing process and fill out your returns like a pro!

TurboTax Home & Business

It's difficult to decide which version to buy. I have minor business income and expense (negative this year) leftover from activity before I retired. Every year I wonder if I really need to buy the Home & Business version. Otherwise, I am extremely satisfied with the product.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Expensive

glitch with California State format

In the California State tax return, one must enter the forms procedure and find proper form and area to correct erroneous (non-resident) income input provided through interview process because interview process does not allow going back to income section to input correct data.
What's great about it: overall good federal but issue with CA state process
What's not so great: if error inputted in CA income, no way to go back in interview process

great with small problems

For the most part, I am fully satisfied. We completed ours returns with high confidence in a short time. Certain elements, however, were hard to find - e.g.Taxable amount of pensions not calculated - I know there is a worksheet, and I believe TT calculated correctly, but it never gave me the worksheet so I could see. Also, the final steps were so devoted to selling audit defense, etc, that I am still not sure I have e-filed my state return. I'll definitely be using TT again next year.
What's great about it: Completed my return quickly and with confidence
What's not so great: Hard to find some explanations/forms/ completions

Great and Easy

The best thing about Taxcut is that you can easily stop anywhere at any time and review anything that you want. That makes it easy to find your mistakes or items left out.
I just wish that they gave a break on the price of other states, When you use more than one extra state, the cost is more than 50% of the cost of the entire program.
What's great about it: Fast, Complete, East to review at any point in process
What's not so great: Cost,

Taxes made easy

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. It is the only way I will do my taxes.
This year however I noticed Turbo Tax would ask for certain information and then later in the process they would ask for the same info. Wasn't sure if I was to enter the same info twice or not. After much searching I was able to find my answer.

I will be using Turbo Tax again next tax time.
What's great about it: Makes doing taxes managable

Still the best

27 years with TT and still the top of hill, as long as you wait for the first couple of updates. Deadlines for distribution aren't aligned with tax regs and coding.
Step process becomes better, more detailed [more tedious but that's the regs again], and surprisingly easier to navigate. Filing has progressively gotten easier, faster and more communicative over the years. It's easier to let TT file for the state than filing manually.
This year the program has been tagged with several annoying tics. The first requiring manual approval to update each module, so usually four stopages after saying yes. The second is the constant need to save a file. A file gets saved 3 or more times while updating - 4x if filing a return. Annoying yes, affecting the overall experience, of course not.
As said at the top, TT's the best and has been since at least 1988.
