Outstanding Software package

This is my fourth year of using Turbo-Tax. It is actually more user friendly now that when I first started. I love that it asks questions or describes on the same screen what acceptable criteria are and how that may apply to one's specific tax situation.
Easy to use, accurate, and comprehensive - what more could you ask for?
What's great about it: clear descriptions, understandable queries, quick analysis
What's not so great: Nothing stood out
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

The federal return is a breeze, even with a schedule C. The state return (PA) is more difficult. There always seems to be something I have to enter manually because it is different than federal. Last year I traded in my old car and bought a new one. I deduct mileage on my schedule C, and PA makes that very hard to understand. Leave it to PA to make it difficult!
What's great about it: Easy to follow along
What's not so great: state return is a little more difficult

I saw a list of all my 1099-DIV before I started, but could never get back to it and had to re-enter them all.
During deductions, there was something that was free and designed to help you track deductions early for next year. It said something like: "preview now if you just can't wait, but don't worry, we will get back to this later" and it never did!
What's great about it: very intuitive for the most part
What's not so great: could not get back to a couple of things

Rocked by Intuit Customer Service Rep

I was starting to get a little frustrated with the efiling process for state returns because my credit card transaction was not processing. Intuit- you have a great customer service representative in a lady named Sarah. She walked me through the process in a very professional manner. Top it off with the fact that she seems to be a genuinely nice person.
I will be an advocate for both the product and your representative!
What's great about it: The intuitive nature of the step process
What's not so great: transaction capabilities- Intuit would not automatically accept a credit card payment for state filings
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Refund on the way before April Fool's Day!

Turbo Tax is tailored to any individual or business. As long as I have to spend the time gathering all of my records, I prefer to enter the information myself. Turbo Tax imports information from financial institutions and other entities saving me lots of time and energy.
What's great about it: Guidance to all the forms I needed for a complicated return
What's not so great: I wish the language was clear about where to deduct depreciation items on Schedule E
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Tax breaks taken

Worked great for yearly taxes based on ordinary income. Still seems to lack detailed explanations of why rental income losses are treated as they were and what to do if you know yearly income will decrease instead of increase (due to retirement).
What's great about it: Step-by-step is great
What's not so great: You can't get to estimated taxes
