Step by Step Interface

Overall, the program is easy and quick. We have complicated taxes being married, filing jointly and we each have our own business and W-2's and 1099's in the mix too. But Turbotax made it easy enough for us to do ourselves. There were a couple topics that I had to go back and redo after comparing this year's with last years, but that was easy to do and I was able to quickly fix my errors. We will definitely use TurboTax again next year and the year after that and the year after that...
What's great about it: Easy instructions to follow
What's not so great: Some concepts were confusing

Good Product, a real time saver

Turbo Tax is easy to use. It shows you last year's numbers as you go along and is intuitive to use. I always did my own prior to 2014 but Turbo Tax found me a couple of deductions I hadn't thought of. Worth the money. I just wish it was easier to contact someone for a little guidance with tricky (to me) situations.
What's great about it: It is great to be able to upload last year's return and see its figures next to this year's.
What's not so great: Sometimes I'd like to be able to get back to an earlier list without scrolling all the way down.

2016 Taxes

You still have not set up an entry section for the Old Age Security Pension from Canada. The form reported to the IRS and Canada Revenue is for "NR4-OAS. You only have a section for : retirement funds ,income, banking accounts or Mutual funds etc. We have none of those. This is a specific section for "Old Age Pension"!!!! I have been asking for it for years. Hello? Where is it? It can't be that hard to set up this section. We have to add it into our Social Security from the US. That is OK but I would like to have this corrected. We have used Turbo Tax for all the years since you started and we are still waiting for this. The rest of the program is great and I appreciate all the rest. Thank you.

Tax Prep made easy!

Excellent software without the brain damage of taking a shoebox of receipts to a tax preparer. I have been using this product since it was Intuit and than became Turbo Tax. Chances of being audited are low with good record keeping. I also use Quicken for home and Business to track 3 LLC's as well as personal expenses.
What's great about it: TurboTax provides step by step instructions
What's not so great: none

Very Good Experience - Requires Improvement

I really like the product and hope you continue to provide a desktop version so my financial information stays within my home network.
In general, I use a combination of guided and unassisted navigation to complete my tax forms. The product's help system is wonderful as it provides a means, via links, to offer more focused assistance without smothering/impeding the user. However, there are instances that the product could offer better feedback to accelerate my effort. For example, there was a question regarding carryover losses that failed to convey that the program knew there wasn't any carryover loss from the previous year - at least according to last year's return. I would have liked the guided prompt to indicate that it had inspected last year's tax form and deduced there was likely nothing to report. Instead, due to the absence of this feedback I had to review the paper copy of last year's filing to ensure the appropriate reporting amounts were zero.
Downloading financial documents is awesome! It's a fantastic time saver! However, I use a password manager (keepass) to store all my passwords and prevent key loggers from silently stealing them but TurboTax thwarts its operation. This password manager relies on the clipboard's cut and paste feature to automatically transfer the password from the encrypted password file to the password field. Unfortunately, TurboTax for some silly reason has never permitted the entry of password via a paste operation. Therefore, I have to manually transfer the password from keepass by typing its value. This can be very difficult as my passwords are 20 or more digits in length containing random values. It can be especially challenging to discern between certain numbers and letters like 1 and L, 0 and O. To resolve this issue simply enable copy and paste operations for this field. Not only would this solution improve my experience but it would also prevent key loggers from stealing user passwords when using this TurboTax. feature.

What's great about it: Download from Institutions covered more of the ones I use. A help system that doesn't get in the way.
What's not so great: Doesn't Permit "paste " operation to password field in download from other institutions.
