Most steps are easy to follow and have definitions that are very helpful. Two items from Schedule C in the business section had no definitions which I found very odd - 'at risk' and '1-5'. I had no idea what they were referring to but did get the information on the TurboTax help section. Would have preferred a link to the info from the application page itself as with most other sections.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Had to fish for some definitions in business sections

TurboTax is the BEST!

I had some new taxation issues this year and TurboTax guided me through them like a CHAMP!

Software hung up some

Had issues at times with the software. A number of times it would go into "Calculating" mode and the wheel would spin forever. I would try to back up and go forward again, but that would not fix it. The only remedy was to shut down the program and reopen.
What's great about it: Used it for years.
What's not so great: Sometimes choosing "Back" doesn't take you back to where you were.

1. Software does not allow you to print specific tax forms. I filled out schedule A and wanted to keep the info. even though I used the standard deduction. In order to do that I had to print all 103 pages of the return.
2. Overall is was generally more difficult to select specific sections to work on. It seems more geared to holding hands throughout the process.

Be honest, be patient and Turbo will do it for you :)
What's great about it: Easy to follow. Very user friendly.
What's not so great: Internet was very slow. Could not pay with credit card, so I had to pay with my refund

surprise surprise

I have property and side businesses and a kid and lots of deductions, credits, etc. I thought it would be hard. it was at times and the software did crash several times but I never lost my data, it was easy to pick up again whenever I was ready. after 3 days, probably 10 hours in total, I was done. Not bad considering I saved a few hundred bucks and I'll be twice as fast next year. the prompts make it so easy.
What's great about it: hard taxes easy
What's not so great: hung, had to restart a few times
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
