I've used Turbo Tax since the 1980s when it first came out. I went through a successful, no cost or taxes due, IRS audit and thank Turbo Tax for providing an excellent tool for accuracy, completeness and easy of preparation for the audit. It teaches you a lot as you prepare your tax return if you select the "full Guidance" option. This education put me in a knowledgeable position to participate in the audit, The Turbo Tax questions are clear and help you remember and look for both income and deductions so your return is accurate and done properly. Everyone is responsible for their own tax return even if someone else prepares it and Turbo Tax walks you through step by step so you understand the how, why and the what if ever asked.
What's great about it: Easy to use and very good questions and answers
What's not so great: A little learnig curve to quickly jump around if needed to go back to complete something

Always great, this year a little unstable

I have used the program for over 15 years and love it. The up-selling has gotten a little annoying over the past several years, but I can deal with that. This year for the first time ever, I experienced at least 6 frozen software issues while I was working on my taxes. I never lost anything, and all I had to do was quit and restart, but overall pretty buggy.
What's great about it: Always very efficient and goes through options very clearly
What's not so great: Unstable - crashed on mac 6-10 times over the course of three days

Complete and Flexible

Easy to use, following step wise instructions for entering data. Very flexible considering the variety of income, investments, deductions people might have. One difficulty I had was downloading investment information from Wells Fargo which wouldn't work. I had to hand copy a lot of detailed information from my investment 1099 which was laborious. Some of the check boxes that I checked in going through the original entry process needed to be rechecked when going back to each category to confirm accuracy of entered data. I think all pages should remain as entered until edited. Otherwise a great tool and much cheaper than a CPA.
What's great about it: Covers all the bases
What's not so great: Having to pay extra for state filing

Security snafus

I do returns for myself, my son and my daughter. Each has a different Email address. When i'm in the process and it requires to send a code to a email address, it sends not to the account I'm working on but to one of the other Email addresses. My son and I have the same names but have different Emails. It will always send the code or other information to the wrong email! No matter which return I'm working on it will invariably send to a different Email! Also when trying to pay my state Efile, even tho the info is correct as to billing and credit card info; it always comes up with an error notice. Why is the security system so complicated from previous years. Been using turbotax for over six years.
What's great about it: Good with info
What's not so great: complicated for multiple returns

AGAIN TURBO TAX WAS EASY TO USE YOU JUST HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU ALL THE INFO AT HAND AND THE PROCESS FLIES BY.

I did get a little mixed up when trying to input data on 1099s. Please highlight the 1099 to be worked on , as 1099-DIV or 1099-R. Program needs to be consistent when referring to these documents.

BEST Tax Software HANDS DOWN!

After trying numerous other Tax software programs such as TaxAct, I will never go back. Turbo Tax is the most user-friendly, easy to use program and worth every penny. From aid to discovering tax write-offs to call-in customer service, Turbo Tax is by far the best program to use.
