Always reliable

My 2014 return was reviewed by the IRS, I received letters stating that I owed an additional $1550 in taxes. Turbo tax made it extremely easy for me to access my saved files, my ducks were in a row and I received an actual apology letter for their error!
What's great about it: Seemless transition year after year
What's not so great: Have to wait until after Jan 1st to purchase a good copy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Home and Business Shortfall

I will probably need to file an amended return, possibly on paper. The program tried to double count Medicare health insurance deduction on both Schedule C and under medical expenses on Schedule A. Program would not pass e-file checks when an override was put on Medical Expense Worksheet. Accepted override on health insurance on Schedule C. However, Schedule A medical was below threshold - so it looks like I totally missed the business deduction for the Medicare insurance premium. Also the program asked for Long Term Care premiums again on Schedule A and double counted those as well.
What's great about it: transfer of info from previous year
What's not so great: Big problems with business related health insurance

Incrementally Better

TuboTax has gotten slightly better (more user friendly) each year. I would ask the software folks to add more definitions to the next version. I.e. when I click "Business" or "Personal" give definitions of what each term means. As an example, what is the difference between a Personal travel expense vs. a Business travel expense?
What's great about it: TurboTax gets slightly better each year
What's not so great: Some topics are still too nebulous

What's great about it: Software covers most situations; TurboTax Help phone support was good, stayed on the call til the problem was resolved
What's not so great: Problem resolution was to override an amount on the 1040, so could not e-file. Navigation at time was challenging.

Simple language. Go line by line! Don't skip.
What's great about it: Asks all pertinent questions in simple format.
What's not so great: Need to know exactly what is being entered on a K-1 if it is to be filed correctly

You Make it SOOOO Easy!

I had to call the customer service rep when all the taxes I had withdrawn from my pension check were coming back to me as a refund. I knew THAT was wrong! They called me back in less than 25 minutes (just like they said they would) and the rep was able to quickly and easily help me solve the problem. She even put me on hold a few times so she could check with a supervisor and make sure it was accurate. Great job! I've used your software every year except two for the last 25 and those two times were the only ones were the tax filing was screwed up! I'll be back again and again.
What's great about it: Easy step-by-step directions, GREAT customer service people
What's not so great: absolutely NONE
