TurboTax made me feel Competent!

TurboTax made the tax preparation process incredibly easy and efficient. I had an Arson last year and wondered if I would be able to recoup anything. I did not claim a lot because I felt my belongings were priceless, however I was glad to see the program provided for such situations. The program walked me through every step and found deductions I didn't realized I was entitled to. I have used Intuit TurboTax before and will continue to do so. Taxes made simple!
What's great about it: This program guided me through the process almost effortlessly. It is great!

Good software

Have been using TurboTax for years. Every year you get less for more money. You have to go through loops to get help from the "community", and only through email.
This year there was a contradiction in the NY State return. When filling form 2105 (Underpayment of estimated tax) TT showed a note that the return can't be efiled if it includes that form, but then it allowed me to efile it. I still don't know if it was accepted by the State or I'll have to mail it.

Overall, the software is an excellent program walking you through the complexities of our tax system - the program hung up more this year and only fix was to quit and come back in - after I figured out that this work - there were no major problems.
Help was not very helpful, but luckily I've been doing this for quite some time.
What's great about it: generally easy to use, reasonably clear on complex rules
What's not so great: needed to back up and quit to get out of frozen windows

deceased person in a joint return

Bugs:
1) In the Maryland state return, after confirming which county both people on the joint return resided in, TurboTax entered an endless loop. The "calculating" message and spinning wheel was up for 10 minutes. I eventually had to quit the program an restart - twice. Eventually it was able to move on.

2) Near the end, under the Filing tab, where it asked for my email address (in a couple places), it seemed that there was a spell checker that changed my email user name to a real word instead of my user name. Happened twice, in two separate places where I needed to enter my email address. It was just luck that I happened to catch it before I hit the OK or Continue button. When I changed it to my username, then it didn't alter what I had typed in the second time, so I could hit OK or Continue. Just hope I caught all the times when it changed my entries.
What's great about it: easy to follow the directions.
What's not so great: a couple bugs, see details in the Review.
