PROGRAM DOES NOT ALLOW OVER RIDE CAPABILITY FOR AREAS WHERE AN AMOUNT DOES NOT FALL WITHIN YOUR "NORMAL AMOUNT". SPECIFICALLY CALIFORNIA K1 FORM(100S). FEDERAL K1 ALLOWS A NEGATIVE NUMBER FOR ITEM 15A. STATE FORM DOES NOT.
ALSO, THERE IS NO METHOD TO DELETE PAYMENT FOR STATE E-FILE WHEN CHANGING TO MAIL FILING.

A frustrating experience having program freeze and losing all my work up to that point. First, program would not import last year's taxes. Then, after proceeding without last year's data, program froze and I lost all my work to that point. After the second call to customer support, I was guided to uninstall, change encryption settings, and reinstall. Praise to support for patiently guiding me through this complicated process, but it would have been much better for the software to be debugged before it traps the unwary. Advice: save, save, save-early and often.
What's great about it: After many trials, I was rescued by customer support
What's not so great: Buggy encryption on mac! Froze and lost all my work

When the annual coding program is under construction, I suggest that periodically outsiders be tasked with assessing how comfortable they are with the questions and to what portions of the tax report they apply.
Does it make sense to the outsiders? If not, apply their insights to ensure that customers will be comfortable working through the questioning sequence.
What's great about it: Accepts major investment data and automatically places it into the 1040 Tax Forms
What's not so great: Sequence of questions often was not understandable. Answers were used, but often I could not understand the flow
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I first used TurboTax DOS on my IBM PC XT and have been a loyal customer ever since. I would like to see one version only for Basic through Home and Business for one price. I get the marketing aspect but I think "Turbotax for Everyone" could be priced to satisfy all. It seems like the graduated income tax concept spilled over to Turbotax software pricing. That aside, I will use it as long as I can.
What's great about it: easy, reliable for complex taxes
What's not so great: multiple versions
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Populates current year return with information from previous year. This is very helpful when preparing your return as you have data from your previous year return to refer to for reference. This is useful to insure consistency from one year to the next. If there is a large variance in one item you will be better prepared to explain the variance to the IRS, should you be audited.
What's great about it: Updates current year with previous year info
What's not so great: none

It would be nice if I can click on any input spot and get more info on what is desired for that input location. there are many examples of where this is useful: +form 1116 -- line 1a --- many have mutual funds with dividends from many different countries; Vanguard and Fidelity download of 1099 put all their dividend income on line 1a (from domestic and foreign sources). If you double click would be nice to see the definition
What's not so great: keep working to make it more intuitive
