Life Changing

I have used a personal accountant for almost 20 years and never thought I would be able to do my own taxes. I decided to try Turbo Tax this year and was astonished to find out that I was definitely wrong. I own my own business and this program walked me through my return so thoroughly that I learned about deductions that I never knew about in previous years. I would recommend this program to anyone. It is so easy to use and the refund is great too!

Filing 1099s for Business

I like Turbo Tax. I didn't see an answer on Ask Answer, but deleted the form (which was blank and could not be changed), and this took care of it.
What's great about it: User friendly
What's not so great: Error on 1099 Form A - too many characters.

Mature and complete

Between having a brokerage account and an ESPP and a husband who is a self-employed artist who also does 1099 and W2 jobs from time to time, my taxes have gotten a bit more complicated than I would like. Fortunately, Turbo Tax makes the tax preparation as painless as possible. If only the bookkeeping that it depends on were so easy...
For most aspects of my return, detailed step-by step is for the novices and just fill in the answer is for those who already know what to enter. The opposite is true for ESPP. It's nice that both choices are there, including both the raw tax forms themselves and one or in some sections two levels of detail step-by-step assistance. In the case of ESPP, the most detailed level of assistance is confusing, because as you go through it, you don't know what assumptions TT is making or what it will do with the information. It's also kind of repetitive. OTOH, the less detailed data entry method (still within the step-by-step interface) is just right - it follows the values on the 1099-B, so as long as your financial institution got it right, you'll be fine.
If you make a mistake, it's generally pretty easy to go back and fix it, even if it means removing data entered down one step-by-step path.
Of course, it's always nice to get a refund. :-)
I'm getting caught up on several years' worth of returns, and I don't remember which version had it, but there was a glitch with adding rows for ESPP entries - the display would only display the new rows, not the ones you already entered. But if I went back to the list of sections and started over, it would display all of the rows.
What's great about it: Covers all facets of my taxes. Search feature lets you pinpoint a spot in the step-by-step.
What's not so great: ESPP detailed step-by-step is somewhat confusing

Contractor 1099's cycle

I've used Turbo Tax for many years. It has usually improved each year. But, it does mean that there may be something different to learn or get used to each year. Overall, I've been quite satisfied.
What's great about it: Transfers data from last year, easy edit/delete options, quick process
What's not so great: none on this go round

Good interview process

I've been using Turbo Tax both on the web and as a stand alone application on my PCs for more than ten years. They both have their strong suits, but I miss something that needs to be restored; the link to the list of line-items and forms to get back to them directly. It's cumbersome for some of us to have to go through the entire subject interview if we couldn't find a piece of info at the time and moved on for the sake of expediency. Other than that I really count on Turbo Tax year after year.
What's great about it: Plenty of links to instant explainations
What's not so great: Could be a little more cost friendly.

2015 software package review

t-tax should expand the totals on box 14 for each line entry within that box and allow for special entries other than "other" for an example: in PA you have an employee deduction for local service tax LST. Many users want to place this deduction within the local wage boxes. This is incorrect and should be placed at the employers option in box 14 with a label of LST (Local Service Tax) This entry assists the taxpayer when filing there federal taxes if they can itemize. If applied, t-tax should total this box for a balance entry factor.

What's not so great: some blocks are restricted for flexability
