TurboTax on a Mac

The auto updates would never and I repeat never complete. There was always an error when extracting. It required me to get into the library during the install, drag the .dmg to the desktop. Quit the update process, Quit Turbo Tax. Install the .dmg as if it were a new install.
I have had problems with installing Turbo Tax several years ago. I switched to H&R Block but decided to try Turbo Tax again. No more. I don't think they could give me a life time supply and I would buy this again.

What's great about it: Tubro Tax walked me through the forms as expected
What's not so great: Auto updates were a nightmare.

Complete but disapointed

I have used Turbo Tax for years. I am very disappointed that you decided to change the product. I have always used the Deluxe version and it had schedule F. I now have to pay twice as much for the same product to complete my taxes. I will be looking at other software next year.
What's great about it: Straight forward and easy to use
What's not so great: Had to pay a lot more for forms that used to be included

I love Turbo Tax. It gives me options that I hadn't explored before and walks me through the steps.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax has simplified the tax season. It is easy to follow the directions and turn in my return in record time.

Every time I called, Turbo Tax's agents called back within 15 minutes. Each agent is knowledgeable, sounds happy, and very patient. Almost makes me feel good that I had questions to ask. No need to say more than, thank you all the Turbo Tax agents, :---))

not as good as in past years

not pleased with the section on sale of rental property. there should be a section where one can enter the cost, and add improvements, see the depreciation add-back, so owner can see the total "cost" basis of the property. since there is no such option, I had to include cost of improvements in the "expenses" of sale of home section. If I included in the cost then depreciation would be off. hope you will make this area more user friendly in coming years. also, seemed like I had to weed through everything and answer questions over and over when I had to go back to make minor changes. I thought I used to be able to get right to the form or question I needed. seemed more complicated this year. I'll continue to use turbo tax, but it seems the more it gets "dumbed down" for the average user, the more complicated it becomes to actually use. Like - if I din't know the IRC relevant to purchases/sales of rental/business property, my gain would be much higher - scary. I thought I was paying more money for the program that would walk me through all of my passive business investments.
What's great about it: great for people who know nothing about income tax
What's not so great: hard to get directly where you need to go, must go thru everything to make small changes in one area
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

I have used Turbo Tax since for more then 20 years. Would not do my taxes any other way. The combination of QuickBooks & Turbo Tax is the only way to go. As a small business owner, it takes the guesswork out of the process each year.
