Competent, still could improve.

In estimating federal and state taxes, estimates of both qualified dividends and other income are requested, though the latter includes the former. This inclusion should be made explicit. Not clear is where one puts in an estimate of capital gains -- probably in both categories.
What's great about it: The community answer board solved my problem (where to enter an IRD deduction)
What's not so great: I had to go to the community answer board, rather than TurboTax help.

I have been a user of Turbo Tax for many years and the process of doing annual taxes seems to get easier. Very thorough questions.
What's great about it: Could be any easier.
What's not so great: none....
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Need Additional Flexability

Couldn't data entry exempt income on 1099DIV.
What's great about it: User friendly
What's not so great: Had to download details for 1099Div instead of data entry all, including exempt income

STILL THE BEST OPTION

I have been using Turbo Tax since, I think, 1999. That fact, by itself, says a lot. The first year takes time, as you have to enter all of your personal information ( name, address, employer, bank info, etc.) After that first year it is EASY. TT pre-enters almost everything; you just need to review the entries and make any updates. TT will even obtain and enter your W-2s, 1099s and similar information. The hardest part of the whole process is collecting all of your deduction information before you start .
What's great about it: VERY EASY TO USE
What's not so great: NONE
Pros: I bought or sold investments

IRS notice for Non filing-what a suprise!

E-filed my return as usual 10/15/15. Rec'd the E file PIN # too.
Then 3/11/16 I receive notice in the mail from the IRS that I have not filed my 2014 taxes.
And,
I checked , and the e-payment of the taxes due was never drafted last Oct.15.
Turbo Tax really let me down. Now I have to deal with the IRS. I have used Turbo Tax for 20 years.
What a disappointment.
Then 3/11/16 I receive notice in the mail from the IRS that I have not filed my 2014 taxes.
And,
I checked , and the e-payment of the taxes due was never drafted last Oct.15.
Turbo Tax really let me down. Now I have to deal with the IRS. I have used Turbo Tax for 20 years.
What a disappointment.

Easy to use. Complete Through and I'm happy even though I'm not getting a return. But then that's what happens when you don't have deductions taken out of your Social Security.
