I've used it for years

I've used TurboTax for many years. I have tried two other programs and found them inferior. TurboTax also lives up to its guarantee. When an oversight in the program for the 2012 state tax module resulted in a tax penalty, Intuit paid the penalty and interest without hesitation.
Unfortunately TurboTax does not directly interface with the free tax filing programs operated by the state comptrollers, but it is easy enough to fill out the state tax form online once TurboTax has done all the state calculations for you.
What's great about it: Easy, accurate, intuitive
What's not so great: State Return electronic filing fee is way too high.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Get er done

Always had to open from the start menu. It was as if the saved file was not connected to the program.
What's great about it: Does all of the math without errors.
What's not so great: Slow in opening up and could never double click on my file to open it.

SOFTWARE SHOULD BE TAX PROFESSIONALS READY. TURBO TAX SHOULD BE MADE SO THAT BUSINESS NAMES AND PREPARERS ID COULD BE ADDED TO TAXES.
What's great about it: EASY TO USE
What's not so great: SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE PTIN WITH SOFTWARE

Great product, simple to use and follow. Seems better every year but make no sense to get charged so much to file a simple State return you can load for free on the State web site.
What's great about it: Easy to use, full guide or jump to the areas applicable
What's not so great: No free State filling seems wrong
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used TurboTax every year since they purchased Personal Tax Edge from Parson's Technology. I rely on it. Navigation is better than others and faster. The knowledge base is large because of the vast number of users. Some CPAs don't like it, but I'm not a CPA!
What's great about it: Easy to use and not terribly confusing.
What's not so great: Not the best for self-education in tax law.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Everything works GREAT!
Except for me.
I am no accountant. I wish you could provide recommended categories that linked to Turbo Tax without my having to study how to categorize and link to Tax Forms. I know they are there but it is not easy for me to use or set up categories that link correctly and completely. I have used Quicken and Turbo Tax since they came out. I am 72 years old.

What's great about it: Good Clean Fast Easy to understand

TurboTax as long as I can remember.

I've been using TurboTax for many years. I just checked and the earliest version I could readily find was from 1996, but I'm sure I used it before then even, because I remember floppy disks. I wouldn't keep using it if I wasn't confident it was worth it to me.
Over the years I've used it, TurboTax has proven to be quick and easy to use. I don't have to worry about learning new tax laws every year, that is all incorporated in the software, I just answer the questions and input the data requested.
The hardest part about doing my taxes has been collating the information required. When I first started doing my own taxes, it would take days because I had to save my progress to find something else. This last time, it took me less than a day from start to finish. TurboTax has helped me to know what I need to save for "Tax Day".
What's great about it: Quick and easy to use. Answers all my questions without having to leave the program.
What's not so great: I hate preparing taxes!
