Perfect for my stepdaughter's simple return! Probably overkill in her case, but all the detail will help when I get to my own return.

Needs more clarity

In several areas, terminology is not defined. I was asked for my dependent's "modified" AGI but was unable to find any definition of that term; on the CA state file I was asked for my dependent's "income," rather than AGI. Terminology is so important. Why not be clear? My memory may be faulty, but I remember Premium being more clear.
What's great about it: Generally love TurboTax, clear, direct, simple
What's not so great: Did not like Home and Business last year and like less this year
Pros: I bought or sold investments

much better than last couple of years

Much easier to use this year than in the last couple of years. Imports much easier, financial institution list better. Still wonder why can prepare a state return with what I purchased but it doesn't include e-file for states. How about including eFile with the price?
What's great about it: imports quicken easier
What's not so great: can't copy and paste passwords from password manager
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax Home and Business

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and appreciate the order in which it requests data entered. It is logical and has help links to enable me to feel confident in the processes and makes it easy to adjust new or errant data clear up to the last click to E-file. If the data entered is correctly gathered and entered, my taxes will be done right. It is such a convenience and assurance of completeness to know that every bit of data that relates to other forms in the return are automatically entered and calculated. I also like the ability to save the return as PDF for transfer to next year's forms. I feel good about giving the IRS neatly organized and fully legible forms.
What's great about it: Easy to follow guidance and wonderful having last year's info transfer in
What's not so great: none I can think of

Bloated and No Fun Anymore

Too complicated. A lot of the Learn More clicks are useless. Many don;t work when you hover the mouse over. They lost focus. It used to be so intuitive now you keep getting lost on where you are. Can't click cells in forms to track where the data came from. Did not recognize me. I used TT for 7 years then last years I went abroad and Deloitte did my taxes. When I came back you'd think they's recognize you, welcome you back, recognize you were an old timer. But no. None of the engineers are smart enough to predict users like that are welcomes back. One customer = many many more. the product is not fun anymore.
What's great about it: easy enough to install and update and import W2's but did not bring in PDF made by tax accountant from last year.
What's not so great: Kept changing the numbers without any sense - like a clock that was unwound
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax good and bad
on March 8, 2016

Description of minor problem. I received income from the US-PBGC that was not taxed. The 1099R form had the gross distribution in box no. 1 and box no. 2 (taxable amount} was empty. Box no. 2b (taxable amount not determined) was checked. TurboTax kept asking me --Are you sure you owe no taxes on this distribution? You have told us that your taxes are 0. --- However, TurboTax did record the correct taxable amounts. This glich caused me to review this issue numerous times to try to clear up the problem which - really was not a problem.
What's great about it: Got the job done quickly with only minor problems
What's not so great: The minor problem was very frustrating.
