Cost and errors

Overall it is easy to use but I found mistakes when using it. Also the cost to do State. Why? It is free if you go to the state site. Especially for ez.
What's great about it: Walks you thru
What's not so great: Mistakes in software at several points
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

stopped by a 1099r

could not efile.... asked for amount/starting date of pension for my wife.... this info was not on the 1099r so the efile refused to happen.... asking for the same info over and over and over and over.... unable to file!!!!!!

It is so much easier to be prompted for information one sentence at a time as opposed to looking at all the blank lines to fill in on the IRS form

What's great about it: Have used TT for 25 years, it works!
What's not so great: Sometimes tax docs received don't align with TT questions...

Great Piece of Software

If you dread preparing your tax returns, this software is your answer. It makes it as painless as it can be to file taxes. The only thing is because it tries to be real user-friendly and caters to the tax novice, it may bother you a bit even when you choose the option to "explore on your own." Still, I didn't mind because I thought it may catch something I didn't think of.
What's great about it: Makes Filing taxes Less Painful
What's not so great: May be too user-friendly for those who know what they want to do

Easy and Done!

I have been using TurboTax for years. I love the easy walk through and directions.
Although there are great explanations for each item, it would be nice for a link to more in depth information or to the tax law itself.
What's great about it: Very easy walk through
What's not so great: No checklist of needed items before starting

Quick and Easy

The step by step process is very easy and covers everything. The most difficult part of filing is assembling all the info...plugging the info into Turbo is made simple with clear explanations, most of the time. when there are questions. It's good to see what provides $ deduction as you proceed through the questions.
What's great about it: After using turbo Tax for several years, I knew exactly what would be needed. Entering info was easy
What's not so great: Not sure why I was given the Standard Deduction as opposed to using all my deductables--not fully explained.
