I had to buy an upgrade because there wasn't enough information on the package. I don't like the required review. Otherwise, the program worked well.

After uploading it didn't want to ask again to upload no matter how often I backed up.
After starting the return the 2nd time my original didn't show up and it wanted to start a new return. I had to force it to find my previously started return.
I have used turbotax since 1998 and it has improved virtually every year until this year some bugs seem to pop up in the early sections before the deductions. oh and the 401k is iffy mine is a roth and it was just awkward. Also the HSA was confusing between my contribution vs amount disbersed in box 1. at firtst it looks like it wants to know how much was put into the account but then it asks for the amount spent from the account. so I hope that is correct!!!
What's great about it: similiar to previous years, pretty easy on all the new health laws
What's not so great: Seemed choppy and after adding w-2 and other forms it wouldn't ask you to upload again. multiple times i tried it wouldn

Easy as could be

Even though return was more detailed this year, Turbo tax made it possible to accomplish on my own, without missing any deductions

If find the desktop version easier to use and navigate than the online version. However, overall TurboTax is an excellent product.

Great DIY Enabler

TurboTax makes it possible for me to prepare my own tax returns and be confident they are complete and correct even when my tax situations become complex. Most of the time, I can quickly and easily determine the values to enter into the fields in the step-by-step data entry process. And TurboTax saves me a lot of time. Occasionally, I have to study a topic more extensively before I understand what dollar amount I should enter. This year, for the first time in 15 years of using TurboTax I seem to have encountered a bug in the software for my state return. On one screen the software referenced a pension distribution amount from my federal return, but then, two screens later stated that no pension distribution data was found. I had to switch to forms view mode and find the worksheet where the amount should have been transferred from my federal return and enter the amount there manually myself. Only then could I switch back to the step-by-step process and proceed with guided data entry.
What's great about it: TurboTax seems to cover every possible tax situation and gives me confidence that my return is complete and correct.
What's not so great: Sometimes the step-by-step instructions and help are not clear enough to easily understand.
