Turbo Tax Buisness
on March 3, 2016
Posted by: Glueguy2
Have been using Turbo Tax Business for at least 15 years. the only hassle is balancing the Balance Sheet to the dollar. there are always rounding errors that put it out of balance a couple of dollars either way and then no easy way to adjust within Turbo Tax. Also importing from Quick Books - some expense categories do not apply - so using "other Expenses" in Quick Books - Turbo Tax does not recognize "Other Expenses" and you have to categorize it manually as "Other Expenses" each time you import. - which you probably will several times as you input your depreciation and make adjustments.
What's great about it: easy to complete - anybody can do it
What's not so great: does not give you easy options for rounding errors

Needs Work on Health Insurance Premium Deductions
on March 3, 2016

2015 TurboTax Business is required for s-corporations, partnerships, multiple LLCs, etc. The program will only address health insurance ONCE during the initial step-by-step interview process on the Schedule K1. If the question regarding health insurance premiums is misunderstood or overlooked by the user during the first iteration of the Schedule K1 information, TurboTax does not allow the user to go back and make the correction. The correction can only be made by going to Forms and doing a manual override on the K-1. TurboTax should also use the language from the IRS Publication 535 to help various entities determine which health insurance premiums are deductible. Spouse, employee, dependents, w-2 wage requirement, etc.
The TurboTax Help Center quite often would take the user to the TurboTax website - which indicated ALL health insurance premiums are deductible. However, this was contrary to the IRS Publication 535.
Sometimes the Help Center would allow the user to "Jump" to the portion of the step-by-step interview but the user must click the "find" button more than once to get this feature to work. When I was on the phone with the tax software adviser, she had to do the same thing on her end in order to get the "Jump" feature to work correctly. Unfortunately, there was not a "Jump" feature available to edit the K-1 and this had to be manually overridden on the form itself.
I will likely use TurboTax Business again next year; however, I will save myself some time and read the IRS Publication 535 to determine the deductibility of the health insurance premiums prior to using the program.
What's great about it: Provides helpful tools during the step-by-step interview process
What's not so great: Does not do a good job of addressing which health insurance premiums are deductible and which ones are not

So easy to use; they carry you on their back through the whole process -- at least twelve years now
What's great about it: I feel confident that I am paying no more and no less than I owe.
What's not so great: None

YOUR STATE RETURN SELCETION IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. YOU DID NOT NEED THE STATE I NEEDED AND THAT WAS NOT DICLOSED TO ME UNTIL AFTER I ATTEMPTED TO DO THE STATE RETURN. YOUR PROGRAM MAKES IT DIFFICULT AT BEST TO MAKE ALLOCATIONS TO BENEFICIARIES. HAVE TO OVERRIDE. DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU EVEN SELL THIS PRODUCT. I WILL NOT BE USING THIS PRODUCT IN THE FUTURE.

One day I'll be able to hire an accountant to do all my bookkeeping but until then, I'll file using TurboTax. The hints are helpful and help me tailor my accounting categories to my needs.
What's great about it: Tells me what to complete, checks for errors, completes required forms

In past was able to correct your oversights - this time your program would no accept changes even if not recognized from last year or carry over from other forms and in some places did not add -so still sent in taxes as your program would only accep. Also for where locations is there is no where to put the United States except other.t .- maybe i should apply for a job of proof reading
What's not so great: can not over ride numbers that do not come forward

Turbotax for Business - no Mac version
on March 4, 2016
Posted by: MicBlank
It doesn't make sense to me that there is no Mac version of TurboTax for Business. I always prepare our personal and business taxes on my Mac computer. I don't own a personal PC type. This year our business entity was changed to an S-Corp, and the Mac version of "Home and Business" does not cover corporations. Only TurboTax for Business handles corporations, but does not offer a Mac version. I had to download the PC version on my work computer, which was very inconvenient.
What's not so great: No Mac version available
