Another Year

I am tracking a family real estate partnership via Quicken and Turbo Tax. I do most of the accounting via EXCEL as it is not cost effective to use QuickBooks (this is a passive activity with no employees or other business operations).
What's great about it: Fast, efficient and straightforward
What's not so great: Did not have required State return

Turbo tax did not help me to know what to do when I held a mortgage receivable and the buyer defaulted and the property was returned to me.

Excellent for S Corp

I have used TurboTax for 2 years to prepare the return for my S-Corp. As long as I keep detailed records (Excel) throughout the year, my Fed and State returns take about 2-3 hours to complete and file.
Anytime I have not understood an entry requirement, the TurboTax explanations have been thorough.

Turbo Tax Corp software is easy for use.
The ecosystems between QuickBooks Pro and Turbo Tax has rooms to improve.
I have not had one successful transfer so far after using the Turbo Tax software since year 1997. It all ended needing to give up the automatic transfer and then to enter manually.
State Tax transfer from Federal is good but the "Non-deductible taxes" item is very confusing and pro to make mistakes. On the Federal Tax form the "Payroll Taxes" are specific to not relate to any income taxes already. The software list the amount of the payroll taxes and then ask how many of these taxes are not deductible. All the income taxes have been itemized on the Federal tax form though.
