The software can be a lot better than now

Transferring from QuickBooks to TurboTax is not that smooth especially if you have depreciation. I think QuickBooks should include the depreciation calculations for the assets or TurboTax should do that hassle by modifying what's needed in QuickBooks and transferring the information complete.
NC form doesn't fill out correctly. The Inventory of machinery, equipment.....doesn't get transferred from the federal.
Even though I didn't let TurboTax transfer the information from QuickBooks this year, I still had a lot of problems. I knew that my books and my taxes had the same numbers but somehow the one that you keep for your records to tell what's the difference in depreciation on books and taxes was wrong and gave me errors. That was a big hassle.
What's great about it: Took all the math out and transferring information from form to form
What's not so great: The software doesn't work well

adding forms instructions not understandable
on February 27, 2016

adding forms (1041T and 172(b)(3)) were not understandable. When you go to add form from View menu. There was no search field to search for form. Unable to add any of these forms and got frustrated.
What's great about it: step-by-step guiding made it easier

I count on Turbo Tax for an accurate return. It is easy to use and transfer data from my accounting program to the tax program. Instructions are thorough and easy to follow.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is very easy to use.
What's not so great: Very expensive.

An Improvement
on February 28, 2016

My number one request would be for Turbo Tax Business to allow me to download 1099 data directly from my brokerage account like TurboTax Personal does.
The one flaw I found is that TurboTax asks me to file a state tax return and would allow me to download (and pay for) a Florida Fiduciary Return. However, Florida does not require a Fiduciary Return for the Trusts I have. Fortunately, I knew this and did not have call and ask for a refund.
What's great about it: Now allows me to file Trust returns electronically
What's not so great: Doesn't let me download 1099-B from my brokerage account

Great for non CPAs
on February 28, 2016

TurboTax is great for non technical users. I found the questions detailed and helpful. If you have a simple return, this is a great product. For more complicated returns, it is difficult to make user changes outside of the script. As a non practicing CPA, I would like to be able to enter my own changes/tweaks to the return more easily.
What's great about it: Detailed questions, great for non technical users
What's not so great: Unable to go outside of script
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

on February 28, 2016

When I printed the 1041 return it did not print the attachment 1099-B with the return, it showed being attached but it did not print out, the 8453 FE signature page printed as a attachment but the signature was not on it .
What's not so great: Doesn't have E filing for state Trust return for Indiana or Ohio
