I have used the basic version of Turbo Tax for several years now and have never been disappointed on the level of the information provided, and the results.
What's great about it: Ease of entering data and the step by step instructions
What's not so great: Multiple questions asking if I wanted to upgrade

Such a headache

This was the most horrible experience. I had to buy an edition in order to use a form to finish my taxes. I then had to pay another fee just to start the state taxes then pay another fee to file them. The information was misleading and confusing at times when putting in my income. I did call and they were helpful, but I have never had this much trouble with taxes until this year.
What's great about it: It double checks your work
What's not so great: fee after fee after fee

Great success and high satisfaction in previous years.
This year........
1) Can't complete a state return.
2) Can't find mailing instructions for Federal return.
3) Tired of being asked to buy additional products.

Quick and painless

I found the program to be easy to use and as painless as possible. I bought the basic version and it had everything I needed in it. For people who wish to make sure they don't miss anything, there is an option to have the program walk you through. Or, if you want to go straight to what you need, there is the option for that. I am thoroughly satisfied with this program. Will use it again next year for sure.

Unhappy experience. Have used over 10 years.
Too expensive with add-on payments at the end.
I want to know and PAY for all services BEFORE I start.
I now have standard deduction and don't need all the deductions as in the past.
