Finally completed - Waited until night before
on April 14, 2016
Posted by: Reed2u2
Waited until late night of 14 April even though I had all my forms, accounts and records in front of me. TurboTax 2015 migrated my 2014 data which saved a lot of time and effort in preparation of the forms. Even kept the preview in PDF so if needed I can printout to read later. The speed of the migration for W-2, 1099-R and 1099-INT had me starting at 10:30 PM and done before 11:30 PM. I am confident about the filing and relieved to have it completed.
What's great about it: TurboTax2015 Federal was fast and easy!!
What's not so great: Liked the ease of step by step or skip on...(no Negatives)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I am using Turbo Tax for many, many years. Every single Tax reported was accurate and very easy to follow it.
I will recommend Turbo Tax for anyone interested in doing his/hers own Income Tax.
What's great about it: It is accurate
What's not so great: None, so far
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What happened to history?
on April 15, 2016

I have been using T-Tax for years. I entered historical cost information for my IRA years ago to descern between pre and post tax contributions. Seems like this year it asked me to come up with the same numbers again which is an impossible task.
What's great about it: Easy to uses
What's not so great: Seems like some historical information not available
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Generally works well, especially for straightforward stuff.
Problems:
- Instructions weren't very clear for health insurance payment information if you're on an exchange plan (it looks like you need to enter it during deduction entry, but it's entered later in a separate phase).
- Income from my house installment sale showed up twice for no reason I could figure out, and the extra entry had to be deleted.
- At the final print stage, printing a selected page range didn't work right if the range didn't start on page 1 -- it started printing with page 1, not the selected first page (at least it showed this in the print dialog preview). Due to a printer jam halfway through, I had to print the last 15 pages individually using the "single" page print option, which does work correctly.
Overall, it's significantly better than doing taxes manually, but you have to carefully check all the form pages at the end before filing to make sure the program didn't botch something. I've had this problem pretty much every year I've used TurboTax
What's great about it: Mostly works well and is clear
What's not so great: Exchange insurance deduction unclear, buggy printing, duplicated one income entry

There is not an easier way to file taxes on your own. You do not need legal help or assistance. All questions that you may have are easy to find.
What's great about it: The Program walks you through everything. Very easy to use.
What's not so great: No cons.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Still using after all these years!

I have used TurboTax for years and will continue to do so. When I am not sure about something, I can usually find an answer.
What's great about it: Great to have info transmitted from previous year.
What's not so great: Would like to be able to go to edit on previously entered info without answering questions over again.

Improved this year

Basic does the job. I've used TurboTax Basic for about 15 years, and it has worked for all my needs including Schedules C and D for selt-employment and stock sales. [Last year I bought the Deluxe product because I had a home sale. Even so, I then had to upgrade further to Premier to address stock investment sales - even the Deluxe wouldn't prepare a Schedule D.] I'm pleased that for the 2015 filing, the TurboTax Basic worked for stock sales and all other applications I needed.
What's great about it: 1. Basic did it all & 2. Few interruptions promoting other products.
What's not so great: none
