2015 Turbo Tax

Program got stuck, didn't download all of the updates the first time. Programs asks you about three times if you want to upgrade.

Too many abbreviations, too many steps, software continually requests additional charges, so no longer more economical than paying a professional.

A great tool to working on your taxes. I like the suggestions and hints made throughout the process.
What's great about it: Walked me thru all parts of the process. Made suggestions.
What's not so great: Didn't seem as easy to back track this year.

Easy to load software. Pulling in last years information saves a lot of time. Great program.

Left befuddled

This process was made needlessly tedious. If you'd tell me up front that all my deductions must be over $12,500 for MFJ return, then I wouldn't have wasted days and hours rounding up useless data only to be told that I qualify for the standard deduction.
What's great about it: I was finally able to e- file my simple return after 7 hours of wrestling
What's not so great: I was not able to purchase the audit protection as I would have liked because my valid cards would not go through

Not worth it

Sure they're done now... but by the time I bought turbo tax, paid extra for the state forms, and then paid to e-file the state forms, i could have hired an actual person to do this for me who could have explained things more in plain english.
What's great about it: Do it yourself
What's not so great: Nickel and dime you at every turn

Tax Time OMG

Easy to use. Difficult to install. Took five attempts before successful at installing on my relatively new laptop. Did not communicate with the H&R Block tax software from 2014. Had issues with downloading W2 forms and went manual.
What's great about it: Painless once it installed
What's not so great: Took five attempts to install, almost gave up
