Wireless built in - Great value for price

Most of the blu-ray players in other brands that were in the lower price range either a.) had no Internet capability b.) were only Wi-Fi 'ready' [need an adaptor] or c.) were Ethernet 'ready'. We needed a blu-ray player with Wi-Fi 'built-in' because our internet modem & router are on the second floor. We purchased the BD-B5700 blu-ray player mainly to stream videos. So far we love it! The videos do skip occasionally, but that's no fault of the player -- a direct cable connection to the Internet would solve that problem.
Pros: Realistic color, Lightweight, easy set-up
Cons: typing function is cumbersome

Great design/slow WiFi

Overall I am very pleased so far (in the first day of owning/using). There are many apps my first Samsung BluRay does not have, and that I find useful and enjoyable - especially the one touch Netflix button. I was surprised, however, that when I did a search for my WiFi network in my home only the G band was found. I would have thought that a N band would have been installed for ultra fast downloads.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight, touch screen surface/face, small
Cons: wifi speed/band

I just purchased this after buying 2 vizio's which matched our tv and neither would play Rango. So finally third trip back to the store and decided on this one. Had to go get a High Speed HDMI cable as my HDMI didn't work. We love it, glad we purchased.
Pros: Lightweight

A GREAT blue ray player

I wanted a new blue ray player with wifi built in so my grandkids could play with the wii. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. I first bought a Magnavox 1530 but was not impressed with it. It loaded ok but was slow in operation and disconnected several times while streaming Netflix.
So I spent $50 more and tried the Samsung 5700, Consumer Reports #1 choice. It is outstanding. The set up went without a hitch and everything works fast with no disconnects. And the Netflix streaming picture is HD...SWEET. I can't say enough about it....and not 1 con. A Porshe compared to a Pinto when comparing this set to the Magnavox. Trust me....you will like this product!

This is my first Blu ray player and I'm very happy with this one. With the built in WiFi, it connected to my wireless home network immediately when I turned it on for the first time and I put all the settings on auto so it downloads all firmware and upgrades very nicely from Samsung. Netflix runs beautifully through this player. I took away one star for Performance, it is a tad bit clunky and slow switching between sources on the TV screen, like from one app to another or from Netflix to Smart Hub or from cable TV to Netflix can take sometimes 1-2 minutes but image and sound quality are superb. All in all this player packs a lot of entertainment value in a beautifully designed package.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

So easy to connect, set up and use this wonderful Blu-Ray Disc Player. It's a wonderful asset to our Samsung 60 Inch HD Television that we just purchased. Thank you Samsung for having electronics that even Senior Citizens can understand and use. Highly recommend this product!
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, smart hub, ability to play multimedia files, allshare

Blu-ray + Netflix + Hulu Plus = 1080p Happiness

This is my first BD player, but I did my homework. And I also found a good deal. I have another major brand's HDTV and was originally going for a their BD player to match. After some research I was led to believe the players were hit or miss unless you went for the top of the line 3D which was not my interest.
My last TV was Samsung and I loved it for years. So my second choice was obvious and the feedback for Samsung's players was outstanding on more than just this site. The main selling point for the D5700 was the 'built-in wi-fi'. I can't justify the extra cost for an adapter that could just be a built-in antenna securely in the device.
I can happily say I was up and running with Netflix and Hulu Plus inside of 30 min after one firmware update. I also set up the AllShare DLNA very quickly, but I had to download a different software because the default is Windows only. And of course I popped in How To Train Your Dragon and was blown away by the crystal clear Blu-ray.
So the cons were few for me but here they are:
-The start up menu is not so sexy, sort of like an old cell phone menu with low-budget animations.
- The player will try to load a disc, if present, before anything. During disc loading the screen is just black, or the TV's default screen if the player hasn't sent a signal yet.
- On screen typing is a slow process. It's like a deluxe version of T9, again like an old cell phone.
- The Smart Hub and apps don't seem to cache any content between visits, the loading delays make the apps feel sluggish.
That being said, I love the D5700! It keeps me from running a cable from the TV to my computer just to view the services I really want. My DVD collection doesn't have to expire. And Netflix in 1080p is looking a lot better than the 480p version we had on the small popular game console. I haven't checked out Vudu or the Blockbuster apps yet, but I look forward to it!
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, 'built-in wifi'
Cons: start-up menu feels amateur, lack of caching in smart hub and apps, t9 style typing wastes time, default disc loading on start up
