Great player for many different things

I got this player to replace an old DVD player. This player has done everything I've expected it to without many issues. The Blu Ray discs play well and as fast as DVDs previously. DVDs look great and play well also.
I've tried the online items such as Hulu Plus and Vudu, both are very convenient, however the online services seem to have a few issues. I noticed with both Vudu and Hulu Plus, they both have some issues at times hanging and requiring a restart of the player. I was able to play through a full Vudu movie and several Hulu Plus shows. Hopefully these types of problems could be fixed though a firmware update or application update.
Entering your user ID and password for sites is a little slow with the remote, but this is only a one time thing. Keyboard support would be nice for the searches and user ID / password input.
I haven't had many problems getting it connected to my wireless network, I'm not sure if the problem I was having with the applications freezing are due to that, I haven't tried a wired connection yet as I really purchased it for the wireless connection. But, it does stay connected with a great signal.
The AllShare feature is great for watching movies, viewing pictures or listening to music from a laptop. I've used this feature with no problems at all, very easy and convenient. It's especially nice not to have to copy to a USB drive or DVD.
The USB port is great as well, especially if your TV doesn't have one.
I really appreciate the ability to play so many different file types, especially WMV and DivX. I am I was unable to play back WMA Lossless and AAC file formats.
The remote seems good enough, I was disappointed that there was no code for my Vizio TV. I have a good universal remote that supports my TV and this player, so this isn't much of an issue.
Overall I've been very impressed with the player. The quality of Blu Ray and DVD playback is great. Even some DivX files looked better on this player. A little disappointed with the network services performance at times, but good overall. Wireless seems to work well, AllShare is a great feature for playing stuff from a computer. The USB port is a great addition and the supported file formats is great, but missing WMA Lossless and AAC files.
Pros: Inexpensive, features, accepted file formats, picture quality
Cons: application problems, no aac
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was so excited to get a device that would play DVDs and show Netflix directly on my TV! Great stuff! And YouTube too! Wonderful! (I don't do Blu-Ray yet.)
Connecting was easy with the HDMI (cable purchased separately) and it took a few minutes to get the wireless connection to my network going, but within an hour of getting it home, we were watching a movie via Netflix Instant Play.
The Smart Hub is a great idea, but the interface for connecting is not the best. Some apps are very disappointing, notably the YouTube app, which had such a clunky interface it took me 20 minutes to enter an email address (the same one I entered in the SmartHub setup in only a minute). But I'm persistent. Unfortunately, the YouTube app is disappointing. It doesn't show my PlayLists, nor will it queue videos, so I can't have it running at a party. And it occasionally seems to hang the player.
The Netflix app, on the other hand, met my approval. Much better than the Sony implementation. Unfortunately, the whole love affair lasted only a few days. Today, after some SmartHub upgrade, NOTHING WORKS. I've tried for two hours with tech support, and giving up on the player. Taking it back tomorrow. :-(
Pros: online apps, plays dvds well
Cons: Poor quality, unreliable, slow input interfaces
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this player to replace my old Samsung BDP1500 player. The picture quality is much better than the old model. It is very light weight and compact. It was very easy to set up and to connect to my network. Well worth the money.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight

Buggy, useless

I've been a huge fan of Samsung for many years, so I figured that this purchase would be a no-brainer.
As it turns out, this puppy is getting patched almost daily; and yet it locks up on me constantly, takes more than five minutes to load a Blu-Ray disk and getting Netflix to actually load is spotty, at best.
The wifi drops for no reason, whereas the xbox 360 sitting next to it has worked on the same wireless network for nearly a year without so much as a dropped packet.
To say that the interface is slow is generous. Pressing a button on the remote should not take several seconds to register. Every and I mean every interaction with this device has been disappointing, to say the least.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Don't waste your time and money

I have three main complaints about this product.
1) Everything moves terribly slow
2) The bluray is buggy and doesn't always work
3) The applications (specifically Netflix) are buggy and don't always work
When I first set up the bluray, everything worked just fine, but after about a month, problems started appearing. The first thing I noticed was that the system seemed to be running slower. It would take minutes to start a bluray and even longer to get online. Then the bugs started showing up.
At first it was just Netflix that started getting buggy. It would stop keeping track of episodes I had already watched and sometimes would refuse to play anything until I restarted the bluray player.
Then the bluray player itself started getting buggy. It would randomly freeze and I would have to restart it. Sometimes no picture would display when turning it on, requiring a restart. After a while, just turning it off and back on again didn't fix the problem. I had to unplug the player, plug it back in, and restart it.
So, unless you enjoy running buggy software and hardware (like if you are an alpha tester, for instance), give this bluray player a VERY wide berth.
Pros: it works
Cons: Did not meet expectations, it's annoying to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The player is excellent, however the loading speed is very slow and the program will not allow you to skip the previews directly.

This is a great Blu-ray!!

This blu-ray is great! If you want to have wi fi this is the one for you. It is built in you don't need any wires or wireless adapter. But if you wanted to plug right into your internet you can also do that. The only thing that maybe a down side is sometime the internet connection is slow. The price is a great plus side too!!!
Pros: Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!
