We finally decided it was time to get a Blue Ray player and looked at all different brands and models. We decided on this Samsung as it was only a few dollars more than our second choice and we have had good luck with Samsung products in general. We were not disappointed! I set this up and connected it to my wireless network in short order (just needed WEP code), did a software update on it and set-up Pandora radio, Netflix all in about 20 minutes. Blue ray and DVD playback quality is great. It plays disks quietly - you do not hear the player over the sound you are meant to hear. If your thinking about this unit stop thinking and get it - you will not be disappointed.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

BD-D5700 Blue Ray Player

It was easy to hook up to the 40" Samsung LCD HDTV (3 years old) and our wireless router. The Blu-Ray Player is easy to "Log-In" on, but I found out that you have to take your time in using their "keyboard" as it changes as you go along. Otherwise I would recommend the unit to anyone, we are happy with the way it works with our LCD TV thru our computer via a wireless set-up. We are still experimenting with the unit.
Setup is pretty easy. I like the convenience of the built in wireless, I move the player from basement to family room to bed room all the time. Like others I am use to the speed of regular DVD players which this thing definitely doesn't have. The menus change pretty slowly, and sometimes freezes up but for the most part it’s pretty reliable. The worst part is using the remote as a keyboard but I found a way around that.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The BD-D5700 is an excellent choice, easy to install and wireless ready to stream movies to my Samsung TV. The "Smart Hub" feature and the "Netflix" button on the remote make it very easy to access all the applications available.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not working properly any longer.

The product worked great when I it in June of 2011. After about 3 months it began malfunctioning. It kept switching input modes from HDMI to TV. It kept saying Anynet+ disconnecting. I tried everything such as turning off Anynet+, network remote, switching HDMI cables even using component wires that came with the Blueray player. I am certain there is a bug in the device. It has gotten so bad that I have to unplug the Blueray play to watch TV because it will randomly turn itself on then back off. It has been completely updated and not used very often.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, malfunctioning
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

only problem I have with it is it will say it needs to update and it will not do the update.
Everything hooked up fine. While viewing a video from one of the online apps the screen split in two. Went back to smart hub and now I have two large black bars on the screen. Reset to factory defaults with no luck. It's not the TV everything else works fine.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, crashed the first day
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Troubles with netflix and blu ray
on January 24, 2012

At first this was the best DVD player I had ever owned. About 3 months into the purchase I started having troubles with the blu ray's wifi syncing with my home wifi, nothing had changed with my internet. Next, I kept receiving errors on my netflix page ect. I have read reviews online and checked out the Samsung site and it has been very annoying to resolve this issue. I would suggest this as a last resort brand. The blu ray player itself minus the wifi issues is fine when you hook it up with a hdmi cable though. But the entire reason why I bought this was for the wifi capability.
