I purchased my electrolux cooktop about 5 months ago. The black is wearing off of the knobs already. This is pretty bad for what I paid for this and it is already wearing off on the knobs.
The new Electrolux 36" Gas Cooktop is a major highlight in our completely redesigned kitchen. In addition to giving us accurate flame control for all five burners, this appliance features a continuously grated surface, which can accommodate a wide variety of pot and pan combinations. The appearance of this cooktop gives off an impression of heavy-duty functionality, yet its modern design blends in favorably with our other kitchen appliances. We love the performance and versatility of this Electrolux cooktop!
I purchased the 36" stainless steel cooktop when we upgraded our kitchen. The unit stands out when you look at the kitchen counter. The BTU on the burners are powerful.
We've had our Electrolux cooktop for over a year now, and we LOVE it! It's sleek, low-profile design and easy to use controls make it enjoyable to use. One concern we had was how easy it would be to keep clean, but after using it a few times we realized that it cleans up quite easily. We use it about 2 times a day, and it still looks like it did on the 1st day!
The variety of burner sizes is convenient, and there is good control of temperature settings. After a year, I feel I'm still learning how to get the center 2-ring burner to ignite, as it's tricky. Now that I have a continuous grate, I understand why they are considered convenient. I appreciate that the knobs are metal so they don't melt if a hot baking pan out of the oven happens to land on top of one. (I have friends with other cooktop brands where the knobs melt.)
The biggest detriment to this cooktop is the metal surface, which scratches way too easily when cleaning up stuck spills or food particles. The first time I used the slightly rough side of a sponge rated safe on nonstick and Calphalon surfaces, it scratched the metal near the burner, leaving a pretty unslightly area, before I realized what was happening. I learned from that experience, and now know to use only a soft sponge, but even that sometimes creates scratches. After cleaning, I like to rub the metal with a cloth dish towel to shine it up and remove water marks, and even the towel sometimes leaves small scratches, both on the cooktop surface and on the metal plate around the knobs. Why create a cooktop that shines and looks good in the showroom, if it can't hold up to normal cleaning and soon looks like a well-worn product?
We have had this cook top for 2 1/2 years now and its still looks and works great! My favorite part hads to be how easy it is to clean! This had been a great purchase!
Works great, cleans up easily. The central Min-2-Max burner heats up so much hotter than our old cooktop yet lowers to a gentle simmer. I like the continuous grates, I will start something on high on the central burner and then slide it over to one of the others.
