Pretty Loud

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wish this came in the smudgeproof SS and it is loud. I don't like the halogen lights either. With 9'4" ceilings, I didn't need to buy an additional extension, so it was nice it came with one. However, when it was installed and slid up, it scratched.

VAKitchen, I can only imagine how frustrated you may be. If the sound is from excessive vibration, it could be the hood is not fixed properly on the brackets (page 12 in your Owner’s Manual). Your hood is rated at 400 CFM. CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute of exhausting air flow. The higher the number, the greater the amount of air that is exhausted using the range hood. Think of it as how much faster the air would be cleaned…the higher the CFM, the faster the air is cleaned…..but usually this means the louder the operation. The efficiency of the range hood depends on the cleanliness of the intake and filters. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on hood or filter, please see cleaning and maintenance on page 11 in your Owner’s Manual. Louder than an airport

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read the reviews and noticed the review were not good on this hood, but my wife and I bought all fridgidaire appliances for our new kitchen and she wanted the hood to "match". Going against the reviews and my better judgement we bought, what sounds like an airplane flying close to your home rather than a hood for steam/smoke. I have had different types of hoods and thus hands down is the loudest ever on the planet.

Good when new, noisy, stop working in 10 months

Have it installed by Lennar in a new house, worked well for 10 months (a bit noisy), suddenly stopped to vent, while lamp still works, but motor is not engaged. Repair service came in in 4 days waiting to be called in and repair..
So, now 2 weeks w/o the vent hood in a kitchen, who knows if it will be repaired or another visit is required. Will see. Because of reliability, can't give it more than 3 of 5.

Extremely Loud!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The fan seemed awfully loud so we had the noise level measured and it was 95 decibels while on high speed. After having an unbalanced fan replaced under warranty the noise level only dropped to 92 and on the lowest setting it's 77 decibels. It works efficiently but is only used when absolutely essential.

“Professionally” LOUD

If Professional means like a commercial kitchen hood loud , it is! Impossible to hold a conversation while running at any speed!
