I bought this mainly for the charging feature as I was recharging constantly. Now I don't have to plug it in as much. I also like the sturdiness of the case.
Had the case for about a month now and overal I'm happy. Having the capability to charge up twice in tune of need is awesome, BUT! The change from the apple lightning cable to micro USB was hard. Also the case extends the bottom of the case making headphone jack only accessible with the otter box adapter. Yesterday at work I was going to plug my phone into my radio when I realized I didn't have my adapter. Totally bummed. Great case but lost a star due to its loss of headphone access.
The case is ok for a back-up battery, but the headphone jack is a cheap piece of junk and had a short in it the second I plugged it in. Nothing is worse than have distorted sound that cuts off and on. Also, the mini USB connector on the side of the case is awkward and cumbersome to say the least. Now I have to change out all my cables....very frustrating!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Stands up to me AND the kids

I bought this case about 10 months ago and it's the best one I've ever owned. My kids play with my phone often, and I have butterfingers, so my phone gets dropped... a lot. Even with all the drops, kicks and babies trying to teeth on it, there is not a single scratch, dent or crack on my phone. The case itself looks like its been through war, but the phone underneath looks like it just came out of the box. Even the screen, and I don't have a screen protector on it. The lip of the case surrounding the screen is high enough that the screen won't ever hit any surface you drop it on.
The only things I haven't loved about it are really minor. The headphone jack adapter is easy to lose, and the case can only charge with the cable they provide so you better hope you don't forget it when you're leaving for a long weekend and only have the apple cable. I mean, you can still charge the phone itself but you have to pry off the case. and then you don't have the added security of having a second battery's worth of power at your fingertips. After 10 months of near-daily usage (by that I mean I utilize the second battery's worth of power), the case has started to get hot while charging so I submitted a warranty request. Even having to replace it, it's still WELL worth the purchase price. I can't imagine how much money I've saved just from not having to replace or repair my screen, or even replacing the phone entirely.
TL/DR: It's a great case and it will stand up to whatever you throw at it (even literally). But don't lose the accessories.
I love this case so much, rugged and i always have extra power wheni need it. Hope that you continue to make more power cases for newer iphones, i upgrade every year..
