Generally pleased, but service could improve

Bought this model and the first one we received was a dud (had an electronics error when first installed, so it never "worked"), but the second one we bought has been working well so far. It cleans better than our previous top loader, has a larger capacity, and hopefully, uses less water. Was quite disappointed that the amount of time to get a technician out to to service the first one was going to be nearly 3 weeks! It was enough time to return the original and buy another from a different vendor, with a week to spare. That's completely unacceptable, especially when the laundry's piling up!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Smelly!

I've had this washer for almost 3 yrs now. I got used to the fact that it appears to have endless cycle options but I never can seem to find an option that is what I want. My mom does our laundry sometimes while she is tending and on several occasions has taken it to her house after getting frustrated trying to find a soak cycle. But the worst is the smell. I clean my washer per the manual instructions even though it seems more labor intensive than it should for a product that is designed to clean. Every time I run a load it fills my whole house with the smell of mildew. I have tried everything to get rid of the smell.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hey Etipp, thank you for sharing your review with us. We regret to hear that you and you mother are not pleased with the features that this model has to offer. Front-loading washing machines have watertight, airtight doors that seal with a rubber gasket. That rubber seal traps moisture in the machine and also provides the perfect nooks and crannies for mold and mildew to grow. The problem isn’t helped by our laundry preferences. Our detergents and liquid softeners leave behind residues and films that invite mold growth. Cold-water cycles and mild, eco-friendly detergents don’t quite blast away residues like their environmentally-unfriendly counterparts.
