Hello, dixon549. This model does require a garage kit to operate properly in ambient temperatures below 55 degrees. The garage kit will lower the minimum operating temperature of the refrigerator to 34 degrees. The part number for the garage kit is 5303918301, and it can be ordered from our Parts Department by dialing 1-800-599-7569. ~ Brandi

We went smaller but are adjusting to the size difference and although it was only 2 weeks, our electric bills went down a bit. Cant wait to see what happens after a full month.
