We were looking for a washer and dryer for our new home, wanting a top-load washer with an agitator (as we had poor past experience with a highly-regarded front load washer--slow to wash, not very clean--and had heard from several people that the new agitatorless top-load washers make a tangled mess of your clothes unless you loaded them carefully in layers--too time-consuming). We also wanted a stainless steel tub for durability and to avoid rust.
Most washers with agitators these days are low-end, budget units--you can forget stainless steel anywhere in the product. This Frigidaire is one of the few that met our needs and at a reasonable price.
The washer in our previous home had tons of features and cycles, selected through a menu system and display. It worked great, but after a few years, we realized we were never using any of the special settings, yet still had to go through the menu setups each time we used the washer. This Frigidaire washer has a fairly limited but useful set of features that are easily and quickly accessed through the small number of knobs and switches on the front panel.
After several months of use, we are quite satisfied with it. It washes well and quickly. I should note that we never use the fabric softener setting, as we do not have hard water and both my son and I have experienced allergic reactions to clothing that has been washed or dried with fabric softener.
We almost always wash everything with the main knob setting on "Normal" and have found no real need to use the other settings, so that may explain complaints from others regarding how long it takes to wash a load. So far everything washes fine and quickly on "Normal".
We've washed bedding several times, including two comforters, with no harm, but I can certainly see how something could get damaged by the agitator if it does get caught. In my experience, that has always been a potential issue with agitators. Our previous high-end washer with agitator tore several items over the years, as did my parents old agitator washer when I was growing up.
Overall this washer has been good choice for us along with it's matching dryer. It does make a wide range of noises, but generally shakes less than other washers we've owned, especially during it's high-speed spin cycle (and this is in a first-floor laundry with joist and plywood subflooring).
It seems to have some software bugs (once it stopped and beeped at us due to imbalance, but wouldn't unlock the lid to allow us to correct the imbalance--it required numerous attempts at starting and pausing to get it to unlock the lid and ultimately resume the cycle). I can see it would be very frustrating to someone if their only solution was to cancel the cycle or unplug the washer to "reboot" it, then start the cycle all over. It would be nice if whenever you paused it, it would unlock the lid, but it appears it will only do this if it is a "reasonable" time to "add a garment". IMHO if you press pause, it should *always* stop and unlock the lid, then when you press start it should always resume from where it was. We don't need a "washer nanny" to prevent us from doing something the washer thinks is "inappropriate".

Linens always get stuck in the agitator

I received my washer as an appliance that came with the purchase of my home so I'm not surprised that its the worse one on the market. I have been in my home 18 mos now and I do laundry every other week. and this about the 4th time I have had linen get caught in the agitator.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ruined some clothes

We're frustrated with this washer and looking to get another. This Frigidaire washer has torn several pair of capris pants and even some ladies jeans and shirts, even on the lightest settings.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Adaptable for load sizing and is very quiet
