I purchased this to replace a 16 year old Sony ES series receiver that finally went kaput. I am more that happy with this purchase. Going from component input/outputs to hdmi is a whole different world. Works seamlessly with my older, 2011 Sony TV. Everything works as expected and Iove this product.

Excellent user interface and feature set. Sound effects work well, bindings posts are a good feature, runs cool - need that for cabinet installation, internet and smartphone features are outstadning. Only negative is the advertised "HD Radio". I haven't found it, but the TuneIn app is arguably better. Oh, and the microphone setup is a pleasant surprise.

This is the second Sony receiver I have used. For both the output from receiver to the TV failed after 3 - 4 years. Too expensive to repair and needed to purchase new receiver
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Receiver sound is awesome. Setup for online music is a real challenge because setup documentation is seriously deficient. After several calls to customer service (who were very helpful) and multiple searches on internet I managed to get it set up. Still cant get tune in radio to recognize my acct. I almost took the receiver back because of setup issues but because the sound is so awesome I wanted to keep it. The main problem is due to the poor documentation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Sony Receiver and Customer Support Both Suck

The Sony STRDN850 7.1 Channel receiver looks sleek and high-tech and promises a great experience. Set-up instructions are cryptic, however, and even when the "Easy Setup" process can be brought up on your TV, what to do -- and why -- can be anyone's guess. Once set up using HDMI cables according to instructions (verified by and with assistance from Customer Support both before and after the unit was sent in to Sony for repair) for signal pass-through through the receiver, I could get neither audio through the receiver or video through my TV from my AT&T cable box. I have returned the receiver to the seller.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An amazing receiver

Everything works great except sometimes AirPlay stutters when streaming audio over WiFi. Other than this occasional glitch, this is an amazing receiver for the price!

Good system but unfortunately found that there were some incompatibilities with TVs from other manufacturers when using component cables. This required me to switch to HDMI...and even then things have to be turned on in a certain order to work properly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The reciever is good , The remote control, no book

The remote has no book , When you ask a question , they ask you , Can you be more specific , Like they can not speak English. I wanted to use it for pandora , over wifi , over my speaker system , you need a tv hooked up
, or you will be guessing where pandora or where the internet setting is ..
Took me a week to figure it out , sony on there site was no help .
