The sound bar is descent for the low grade model, the sub woofer is just ok. This model won't be shaking the room or anything. It is basically just to help improve the lower quality speakers that are in most flat screen TV's. If you want a loud surround sound system this is NOT the way to go. I honestly wouldn't have purchased this if I had got to experience it in my room first. Too much hassle to return.. have to pay for return shipping and get a restocking fee not worth it for a $300 item.

This is marginally better than the built-in speakers I have with my TV. I have not gotten the sub-woofer to work effectively

Sound is good but HDMI functionality is weak

I bought this mainly because it has an HDMI pass through for connecting all of my other components. The HDMI functionality was disappointing though. It takes more than 10 seconds switching between HDMI inputs before the video appears on the TV screen, and sometimes it doesn't show up at all. I have to turn everything off and start all over for the video to come up.
On the plus side, the bluetooth works well at closer ranges and the sound is pretty good.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Registration Difficulties

I bought a SA-CT80 Sony Soundbar. When I went to register the device, it did not show my model # as an option. So I picked one that I thought was close to it. I made the wrong choice. If you want consumers to register their products, Sony's online process needs to be accurate.

I think it would have been nice to have personal technicians to help a single woman purchases certain items because online or phone techs don't help! I would like better help overall.
Otherwise I have it hooked up to my Sony Tv but the sound should or could be louder & need help to do such. Otherwise I guess it's alright, best I can say.
