Great product!

I received this coffee maker as a Christmas gift, and it is AMAZING! The carafe has a wide opening for easy cleaning, and keeps coffee hot for HOURS. I am technology impaired, and was able to program the automatic feature and time easily. I like the 12-cup capacity, as my previous thermal coffee maker only made 8 cups. Absolutely no complaints so far!!!

Coffee is tasteless

I can’t explain it. I put the same amount of water and coffee in this machine as I did my old machine and set it for the strongest coffee. I always use more grounds than suggested. I’ve made four pots and they are all tasteless.

We had been looking for a twelve cup thermal coffee pot for several years but all we could find was eight and ten cup models. Happy to find this one.

Wish My Wife Would have bought something else.

My wife purchased this against my advise as I am leery about aluminium contamination and you cant see whats left in the pot. The clock is not back lit so it is very hard to read. Once brewed the 'on' lit turns off so you have no idea that your coffee is ready. Anyhow if makes a good cup of coffee fast but in my first week I find the coffee cools off where I need to nuke it for my 2nd cup. I came on this site to see if there is an adjustment to keep it hot and I am floored by the bad reviews. Mine is a week old and I would like to return it but the box got tossed out. Most of the problems are lid problems and I wondered about the lid the first time I look at it. I find it hard that B&D have not remedied that problem.

Grounds for disappointment

I was so excited to find a programmable 12-cup caraffe coffeemaker! I have been disappointed, though, that every pot I brew has grounds floating in even the first cup and by the time you get to the bottom of the pot, it's not drinkable because of the grounds. I got online and read the manual and the paper filter is fine and the filter basket is in properly and we're not using an excessive amount of coffee, so I'm not sure what the cause is. I've tried different settings and amounts of water and coffee grounds to start with, but still end up with the same result. The tab has now also broken off the lid, so I may just re-start my search and go with a different brand.

Good coffee, but....

Brews fast and stays warm all day without burning coffee.
Problem is at the end of the 12 cup brew cycle the carafe becomes pressurized and does not allow any more coffee to enter the carafe. The result is 1-2 cups on the counter and a handle that will burn your hand. Albeit it's only a mild 1st degree burn. But I usually just take cream in my coffee without the corporal harm.

Cord storage?
on November 18, 2015

I just got this coffee maker, and so far, so good. But I have a question? The manual states that it has "cord storage" which I assume might mean that the cord can be stowed/extended? The cord out of the box is on the short side. I would much appreciate a solution to this mystery.

Broken carafe lid

After too many incidents of leaving other coffeemakers on all day (oops), the B&D thermal carafe seemed like a great solution. Loved the coffee maker, until a small part inside the carafe lid broke---on Thanksgiving. This plugged up the flow of coffee, which ended up all over the counter. I went to the web site recommended for ordering replacement parts, and didn't even find the coffeemaker listed. Hum. I will call the toll free number on Monday and try to get a new carafe lid. (BTW, our area has very hard water, which has caused the coffee to leak all over the counter before. After cleaning with vinegar, it was back to working smoothly. Different issue this time though). Would still recommend it if I can get a replacement lid.
