Don't buy, unless you like cleaning up coffee!

I should have read reviews before buying - seems the "leaking" problem is not being experienced only by me. Here is the issue - the brew basket fills too quickly, the water and grounds overflow the filter, and then the grounds clog up the carafe lid and the mechanism which allows the coffee to flow into the carafe. Once clogged, the coffee spills out from the lid of the carafe onto the counter/floor. This is a very poorly designed coffee maker. It shouldn't be a big issue to design and manufacture a coffee maker which makes coffee without having it spill out onto the counter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Mixed results and overpriced

Purchased this new model for Xmas 2014 and am fairly pleased with the product so far. Most of the reviews point out similar issues, first the lid starting to go is a problem, but the obvious solution, a replacement lid or even replacement carafe, does not exist at least online today. I haven't had the brew problems others have mentioned, having found that using a medium grind, four standard coffee measures for a full pot, hot water to start, and pressing the bold button once, produces coffee that I like. Wiping down the underside of the top with every use should prevent clogging of the water sprayer. Because replacement parts don't exist I'll be getting another coffee maker as soon as the lid goes. The carafe lid problem is actually the pouring tab, it's spring operated, and is very weakly constructed. The metal carafe stains and is somewhat hard to clean because the inner base bottom is rounded upward slightly instead of being flat. It does, however, do the job of keeping a fresh pot hot for several hours.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

good coffee, carafe lid broke

I like the coffee maker BUT, the lid broke within two weeks. The lid is a poor design with very weak plastic parts. Also about once every three or four days there is coffee all over the counter. Can't figure out where it is leaking.

Worst coffee maker I have ever had

This coffee maker will not brew a full pot of coffee Just this morning I had to restart it 5 time so that it would brew a pot of coffee. It shuts itself off after it brews 2 or 3 cups.
Till now I had thought that Black and Decker had a good product. NO STARS !!

Early on broken piece.

We have not had this maker for more than 6 months and the handle you push to allow coffee to come out of the carafe is broken. We can't seem to find a replacement part.

First one, the handle broke off in 2 months. Second one, we had coffee all over the floor multiple times (we did once with the first one too) due to design flaw....don't buy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lid broke within 3 weeks!! Disappointed in this B&D appliance/!!! The last coffee pot we had was B&D it lasted over 10 years...

I've had this coffee pot for less than a month and the lid causes the coffee to run all over the counter. Glad I did not preset or I would have woken up to a horrible mess. Very poor design.
