Runs 3 hours for light wash, extremely loud.

Disclaimer: I live in an apartment where the entire complex has this dishwasher.
Like what other reviewers are complaining about, this dishwasher is SO SLOW. It doesn't matter if you run light wash or heavy wash; the cycle lasts 3 hours. Before I have transferred to a new unit, I gave a benefit of the doubt. Perhaps, the dishwasher at my previous unit was broken. WRONG. I am having the same problem at my new unit. I didn't come here to write a review but to figure out how to fix this lag myself before calling the maintenance. The problem appears to be the dishwasher. Nothing is broken. I loathe washing the dishes to the point I'd rather eat out. However, I run this dishwasher right before I go outside because of its annoying noise. I would be vile if I had to pay for this crap.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us about your dishwasher. We're sorry for the frustration and inconvenience caused the noise and long run time. Information and troubleshooting tips for the noise can be found on page 22 of your owner's manual here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55122-1.pdf&_ga=2.237717760.1469207217.1643310911-623024268.1641822316.
As for the run time, it is normal for many dishwashers to run for up to two hours or more under certain conditions. Dishwashers now run longer to ensure good wash performance but use less energy while running. However, your model has a 1 hour cycle that can be chosen should you want a quicker wash time. We hope this helps! Have a wonderful day. -Gina@GEA

Not very reliable considering age

At 3 years old our dishwasher failed, flooding out onto the floor and through the ceiling into our garage. A service tech through our home warranty company came out to fix the appliance 4-5 times now. It’s been going on since July 2021. Needless to say we’re extremely unhappy. The inside of the unit seems to be unable to withstand the corrosive nature of our unusually hard water. Also while running it smells as if something is burning, the odor is extremely strong upon opening the Unit. Although we have hard water, I’d hoped/expected the unit to he able to hold up for longer. The inside It looks 10 years old at least. I wouldn’t recommend this product.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us about your dishwasher. We know frustrating this is, and we'd like to help. We recommend using citric acid to help with the film left by hard water. More information can be found on page 21 of your user's manual here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55122-1.pdf&_ga=2.9975349.1836502132.1644849335-623024268.1641822316.
As for the flooding underneath the unit, it can be caused by using the wrong detergent, spills of liquid rinse, or even a plumbing issue. More information can be found here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18910&_ga=2.25509053.1836502132.1644849335-623024268.1641822316.

I have 5 years old GDT535PSJ2SS dishwasher and it starts washing for a few seconds then stops and clicks, pauses, clicks and then repeats over and over. It takes a very long time to go through a wash cycle and when stops the green light saying that it is done is not on and the soap cube doesn’t fully washed away. Few years ago, it kept tripping the switch board I’m hence, I started using very little. And now it clicks for over 3 hours regardless of which cycle I choose. I’m just not sure if it shall be repaired or replaced. I’ve been using for a week by adjusting dishes differently but no luck. Please advise.

Hello - We're incredibly sorry to hear your dishwasher is taking so long with the clean cycle and leaving detergent behind. We understand your concern and would like to help.
Usually, when the cup doesn't completely empty of detergent, the cause is a dish or dishes blocking the cup from completely opening. The dishes must be loaded so that the cup can open, and the lower sprays can reach the cup to empty it. As for the clicking noises and longer cycles, this is typically normal for dishwashers.
If you're still having trouble with the unit, we recommend having a qualified service technician diagnose the dishwasher. You can schedule service online at: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm or by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737) Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. ET or Saturday – Sunday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. ET.
We hope this helps. -Gina@GEA

Beautiful clean modern appearance.

It cleaned and heated nicely and as it should. The main problem is after 5 years, the bottom rack started to rust on portions. Since there's nothing wrong with the operational part of the machine, I do need a new replacement rack. How do I obtain a new rack and what is the cost?

Our dishwasher was installed by the builder. It was probably used less than 10 times in less than three years before it went completely dead! No power, no lights, and even after resetting the circuit breaker and still no power! Will not choose GE product given a choice.

Hello, we appreciate you leaving a review. Having long, loud cycles on a dishwasher can be pretty annoying and we're sorry you had this experience. If your dishwasher isn't cleaning you may need to check the Fine Filter and make sure it isn't clogged. You can find instructions on how to do so here: (Page 17) https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55122-1.pdf&_ga=2.142840885.1857496364.1652710058-1627173980.1643143164 Thanks again for sharing and let us know if you have any questions. -Sylvia@GEA
