Great Budget Security Enhancement

I looked at so many companies and reviews I was getting information overload. But it came down to the 8 channel Pro defender. What a great product! I don't have allot of extra time due to work but this was easy to set up and install. It gave information on best places to locate and do's and don'ts, Works like a charm and remote viewing was simple to set up. I plan on expanding and this will be product line. Haven't had to use CS but will call for support when needed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

First system, awesome features

So the initial setup of the DVR and configuration took a few hours because I'm setting up the DVR in another room from my office. But once I put everything in place, installing the cameras was straightforward and quite simple. I love having remote access available and the auto day/night vision and alarms for movement. Haven't had many chances to test it out but I think so far that's a good thing! I will play with the settings to fine-tune to my liking later.

Can't Beat it for the money

Great system, great value. Super user friendly physical setup. I found the most difficult thing to be setting up remote access. My main hurdles were downloading the wrong app (you want the ASee+ App), and getting the DVR remote control to work (hold the remote in front of the DVR while pressing "0" and they will sync). Limited mobility on the mounts but easy enough to overcome. Good color picture, great night vision.

Shortly after my first review I was contacted by Charles with Defendant Customer Service by email thereafter we spoke by telephone about the issues related to the setup of the DVR for remote viewing. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by Charles genuine interest in resolving the issues. His extensive knowledge of the system was astounding but best of all his courteous attitude and infinite patience even when he had to repeat instructions several times to make sure all was understood went well above all expectations. In a matter of minutes all was functional. Thanks to Charles this event which started as a very dreadful experience come to a very pleasant conclusion.
Things I learned since I first purchased this surveillance system: 1. Do your homework before you purchase. It is your money and your time.
2. Get the user manual before you purchase and READ and READ again the instructions. This equipment is sophisticated and requires quite a bit of preparation before tackling the set up for remote viewing. Also the video tutorials available on the DEFENDER website are very educational.
3. Be patient. Delays getting return calls from customer support are frequently due to unusually high traffic especially during holidays.
I still believe this is an excellent system for the price. It has some of the features that you would expect in a much more expensive system and compares favorably in price and quality to most all of the other systems marketed by competitors. Thanks to Charles I now understand the reason why I was unable to get with customer service and I am sure it was not for neglect.
In conclusion I am retracting my three star rating and substitute it with a five star. I am so confident in DEFENDENT's genuine interest in providing good customer service that I plan to purchase another unit for my retreat in the country. And yes, I most definitely would recommend it to many of my friends.

As I noted in my previous review, installing the equipment was very easy. However, setting up for remote viewing was altogether different. After several attempts to make things workable I returned the unit for a refund. Big mistake! I purchased the same model again thinking perhaps the first one was defective. Soon thereafter I was contacted by Charles with DEFENDER customer support offering his assistance to resolve the remote viewing issues. Charles' over the phone instructions made it possible to make the system functional. In the process I learned that during the holiday period great demand was imposed on the customer support staff causing a backlog of requests with long waits for callers. Charles' assistance made it possible for me to understand the technicalities of the system and the restore my confidence to operate it. Best of all he restored my trust in DEFENDER and its staff. I will definitely keep this second unit and I will buy another one for my retreat in the woods. I am now confident that DEFENDER's equipment and customer service definitely deserves five stars.

I bought the 4 cameras version a month ago. Installation was no problem but the remote viewing posed some challenge. Customer Support was awesome in setting things straight in short time. What at first appeared as insurmountable obstacles became rather easy to resolve. I received this second system days ago and can't wait to put it into operation soon. I expect this one to perform as well as the 4 camera unit and thanks to what I learned from tech support I am confident I will be able to put this other unit on line by myself. I will write another review once I get this unit operational rating its performance. I have no doubt it will exceed my expectations.
