Works great (as advertised) but with some caveats

I did a lot of research on such products. It is hard, with all the choices out there and information available, to separate the wheat from the chaff. This product works as advertised and in the way that I expected. It is a medium quality product with a medium price. You can get much higher quality at a much higher price, sure, but the Defender 21112 Pro Sentinel is at my sweet spot. Pros: 1) Cameras and brackets are rugged. After screwing them into the siding of my house I cannot even wiggle them by hand. 2) DVR operates as advertised and pictured. 3) 65' of cable was enough for my application (but make sure you have all measured out). 4) The camera resolution is good. Daytime color and quality good. Night quality is good with the IR. Cons: 1) Well, this was my mistake - but the mount provided with the bullet cameras would not allow a ceiling mount. I had to change to wall. It would have been nice to make that clear in the marketing material. 2) It would have been nice to have white as an option for the cameras. 3) The UI that drives the DVR out of the box (via a USB mouse and PC Monitor) is clunky - but serviceable. 4) The virtual keyboard is hard to read. In fact, for the e-mail alert address I entered dashes "-" rather than periods "." and I could not tell the difference until I logged in via the DVR Client software. 5) Amazingly, the template provided for the mounting brackets is wrong. 6) This could be "pilot error" but I have not yet gotten the motion detection to work to my satisfaction. Many false alarms (say, three an hour) on the lowest setting (1) with areas of motion cut out. I have turned off this feature. Conclusion: I was about to click "Yes" to the "Would you recommend this product to a friend?". And, in fact, I already have. Again, for the price, very good.

The system does a pretty good job. Having a little bit of a learning curve to get everything working, however feel it is what I need.

Well rounded security system with lots of features

I've had this nearly a month, but have had it set up in its final configuration for just a week. Cameras spec out better than a lot of other multi-camera systems and perform fairly well. They will not get you a license plate number further than 10 or 15' away, but I don't think any camera in this price range will. Cameras make a soft click sound when switching between daylight and IR mode. Once you play around with the menu system and get used to it, it is not that hard to figure out and get setup. Overall its good bang for your buck.

This is the one for the DIY individual that is a bit intimidated by the technology challenges of installing a system you can view on your phone or a computer. The videos and support staff was awesome in making this easy.

Exceptional value for the money spent.

My review of Pro-Series Defender 21133, 8 Channel Camera System.
 
The camera system for what it does at its price point delivers an exceptional value. For me, as a small business owner I was impressed by the first system that I put 
in, that I bought three more to protect the 3 remote locations that I do business in.
 
The outdoor weather house is a really durable and rugged quality. I give it 9 stars.
 
Video quality, I consider good. I give it 8 stars.
 
Feed lines. The vendor should up sell rolls of direct burial cabling, or something that has a heavier jacket to protect the cabling. This is not a criticism as people 
want the lowest price. But I would be more than willing to pay an additional up charge for additional quality.
 
Drive Space. The pro series comes with 1 TB, but has the capability for a 2 TB hard drive. Up sell your product and give the consumer a choice to pay for enhanced 
storage.
 
Support. I think they have a hard job, but do provide the customer value. I liked the video tutorials, and that made a difference in buying the system.
 
Software. There have been some new products put out there such as the dvrclient.exe, yet no tutorials. Please add them to show value.
 
Future requests:
 
For the next firmware release please add the capability to remotely archive footage. The capability to do it in real time would be a game changer.
 
Wireless. The hard wired connection became problematic for me for a location that I had to use MIFI at. AT&T does not have a device that has an Ethernet connection for 
its MIFI device. If you use a WIFI extender the ports cannot be forwarded.
 
Closing. The bang for the buck, the camera system works very well. It allows me to remote into a location and make sure my facilities are safe and secure. Instead of 
driving to the location, I check it through my smart phone and save gas – but most importantly time.

Got this system around Christmas and it has worked flawlessly since. We have had a couple of setup issues that Defender support handled quickly and professionally. System was easy to install and it works very well. It is very helpful to be able to monitor our security system from anywhere. Thanks defender for the peace of mind you provide

Great product! Easy Installation

I purchased this product about 3 months ago and I am satisfied with my purchase. It is pretty much a plug-and-play system with of course the drilling for installation of the cameras. I installed this product on a 1,800 sf house and had plenty of camera cords to complete job. Picture is clear and has good range for night vision. This product offers many options that I have not had a chance to play with yet. Good quality product for the money.
