Purchased this to help clean up old and newer pet stains and worked in dirt. On a septic system so wanted to check the chemical SDS to see if it would be harmful. Sure enough it isn't a good idea to dump the waste down the drain (was expecting that). However what really caught my eye was that it clearly says on the safety sheets that its toxicilogy and lethality are TESTED ON ANIMALS! RATS, RABBITS, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE!! If I knew these things involved animal cruelty i wouldn't have purchased it. Especially considering it says that no other products can be used with the machine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback, Tom - We share your concern regarding the use of animals to test household products and work with regulatory bodies and other organizations to encourage the advancement of non-animal testing methodologies. At this time, in order for products to be sold in the US, some of our formula products must be registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA requires a prescribed series of toxicology tests on animals for the product to be registered.
Whenever we are able, we rely on legacy data on similar formulations to satisfy regulatory requirements and ensure that our products are labeled correctly. The EPA is working on alternative non-animal methodologies and we will certainly adopt those once they have received scientific validation and are officially written into the regulations.
As a pet-loving company with more than 70 percent of employees as pet parents, our animal testing policy is that it is only done when required by government agencies. We look forward to the day when we're able to solely rely on those alternative methodologies.

I have the big 10 bissell carpet shampooer. With 1 dog and 4 cats, one which vomits a lot, I purchased this cleaner formula. Although it says for smart fill, I just remove the little plug and pour the amount needed in the cap. I was shocked at the way my rugs came out afer one time with this cleaner! It removed Stains in my beige rug that I never could get completely out and never thought they would ever come out! The rug looks like new! I will always use this in my carpet cleaner machine. Awsome!!

I have a small home and carpeting only in the 2 small bedrooms......and most professional companies want an arm and a leg to clean the 2 rooms. The cleaner and this solution really work. The newer carpet in my bedroom looks brand new again. The 20+ year old carpet in my teenager's room looks fresh, and while a bit worn, looks so much better. I am also very sensitive to perfumes and fragrances (they trigger migraines) and this solution is perfect......just a light, fresh clean smell.
