I read and re-read the manual several times before using the sharpener... and I'm glad I did. The main thing is to use the sharpener (#1) until you feel a burr along the FULL edge of the knife. My knives were so dull, it took about 40 sets of strokes before that happened. Don't worry! The burr will happen, but for dull knives, it may take longer than you think. Once I got the burr from stage 1, I simply followed the manual for the honing and stropping stages. Easy peasy! The end result is that I have never had such sharp knives. I have seen YouTube videos where professional talk about being able to shave your armhairs with your knife. Maybe it sounds gross, but I don't care. It worked (I tried it). That's how sharp my knives are.
Lastly, the manual also talks about something Edgeselect Feature. I have no idea what the manual is talking about, so I am waiting for a callback from the company. The manual should have included some definitions (e.g. exactly what IS Edgeselect? What is "field dressing"? The manual assumes that we, the general public, are familiar with these terms (I'm not). Neverthless, this annoyance is minor compared with the absolutely terrific job this machine does.

I have used manual knife sharpeners all of my life. (I am 82 now!) But this one really works. It will make your high quality knives razor sharp. It's worth the cost.

I have 220v in the socket and the sharpener just burned when I plugged it in... It is my mistake, but it is really a pity that it does not have a fuse.

Very easy to use as long as you read the manual. Takes a good amount of time to get your knife to 15degrees if it is not at that angle to begin with.
