Recently I placed it in my garage and keep the edge seasons tolerable in AZ. I don't expect it to cool all the way, so I set it to 90 degrees. I was surprised how swamp coolers cost almost as much as an AC unit like this.
Pros: Accurate Temperature Controls, Easily Portable
Cons: Difficult to Move, Loud

For my purposes this 12000 btu unit works great. I am using it to cool a 2 car garage.
Pros: Accurate Temperature Controls, Cools the Whole Room, Easily Portable, Even Air Distribution

Great unit - brought it to family cottage over the 4thof July holiday (during a super hot & humid week) the unit worked superbly!

In-laws like it! Starts to make noticable difference to their medium living room within 5 min & it gets really comfortable in 15 min.

This unit is way too LOUD. It does not cool a small area or keep it cool. The vent is only on half of the output window so directing air flow is difficult without physically moving the whole unit.
Cons: Energy Inefficient, Loud
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
