Love the cool air

So we have had some crazy hot days here in Downey California and I am so glad I purchased this unit. It kept our home very pleasant and at times it got a little chilly. Great product and I would recommend it to everyone

Expected much more

Barely had this unit set up for a day and disappointed. AC is set up in my small bedroom in my apartment and doesn't keep cool(my window is in shade too). Air louvers close on any setting (low, high) and AC will shut off when the louvers close which is nice when you're not wanting to use it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

DUPED!!!

I bought TWO of these on Aug. 31, 2017. It was too late in the season to use them then, but was looking forward to using them this summer. Installed them three days ago as a projected 5-6 day heat wave began in the Boston area. I can't tell you how disappointed we have been!!! These replaced two window A/Cs of equal BTU that were 5 years old, and placed in the exact same locations/windows. The difference is SOOO striking in lack of cooling. The house is actually stuffy as the machines churn tepid air. And despite reviews saying to expect an initial strange smell, the smell coming from both machines even after three days of almost continuous use is overwhelming - it actually feels toxic. We've added water to the compressors, as suggested, and even tried to move them to different locations, but to no avail. An hour ago, we decided to shut them both down and just opened all the windows, despite it being close to 90 degrees right now, just to get the stench out and some fresh air in. NEVER, but NEVER, have I made a worse purchase - indeed, I'm one of the lucky ones that has never had to return anything purchased online. But now I'm stuck with these expensive machines, and in the middle of a heatwave! We have no other choice at this point but to go out and purchase two new AC units (we stupidly gave our other ones away at the end of last season). I hope NewAir reps read this review and respond. We bought these in good faith and have no idea what went wrong!!!

Subpar coolling, useless remote, but so far durable

I wouldn't recommend it for over 350 sqft It has trouble keeping up over 80 degrees in an area a little under 400Sqft. I think in general, portable units are less effective because the compressor is not outside a window. I believe a 10000 Btu window unit would be more effective. The remote has never worked right, so I don't use it. I am in my fourth summer of using it extensively, and it still works. The auto evaporation works well. I've never had to empty the unit I have been unable to find what the starting wattage or amperage is. It only lists the running wattage. I am thinking of buying a generator and would like to know what size I would need to run it

Not working.

As soon as I go to set it up the thing keeps saying that the water pump is full and even if I leave the plastic cover off or I attach the hose that should shut off the water full option it is still on. Truly I am disappointed.

Seymone needs a promotion

The woman who helped me purchase this a/c unit (I think her name was simone) anyways from the time she answered the phone until we both hung up it was an overall very pleasant experience. I wish all customer service reps had her personality and patience (yes I had a lot of questions) She made everything super easy to understand I wish I had a direct number to her for any future purchases I might make. The a/c works really well I just cant put it in my living room due to the fuse tripping but that a house issue and not an a/c issue. Would definitely recommend this product to people as well as your customer service rep
