Best window unit I've ever owned

My central AC went out and it was too expensive to have it repaired so I installed this LG 10,000 BTU unit.
It cools much better than my central AC did and I now have more temperature control over the area that is cooled. It cools three areas of my house and keeps them at a constant room temperature.
I also like all the features this unit has, especially the filter monitor that lets me know when the filter needs cleaning.
Its also much cheaper to operate than a central air conditioner.

Some quaility issues; design could be improved

I ordered an LW1015ER air conditioner to replace our aging window unit. I chose this model because of the generally positive reviews and good brand reputation. Also, I wanted a quiet model.
When I unpacked the unit, I found that the upper right corner of the grille assembly was cracked. Apparently, the shipping carton wasn’t strong enough to protect the unit. So I ordered a replacement grille, which arrived three weeks later—in pieces. The vanes weren’t fully attached to the deflector. When I tried to attach the vanes, one of the hinge pins broke off. So I called Customer Service again to get a second replacement grille, which is currently on the way.
I was very disappointed that there was no grille protecting the heat exchanger fins on the back of the unit. So I fabricated a grille from wire hardware cloth and attached it to the inside of the case to keep the fins from getting damaged.
I was also disappointed that this unit doesn’t have a pull-out chassis like our old unit. This model is a bit smaller and lighter than our old one, but still it was quite an effort to lift the unit into the window and close the window to hold it in place. It’s definitely a two-person job—my wife had to help me install it. A pull-out chassis would have made the job a lot easier.
I also note that the air deflector doesn’t turn up high enough to blow the air toward the ceiling. It tends to blow the air more horizontally across the room, which can be uncomfortable depending on where you’re sitting.
The model is reasonably quiet, but I think it could be more so. I took great care to pad the window parts where the unit rests to prevent noise transmission into the wall structure.
In short, this is a fairly decent room air conditioner, but I’ve encountered some quality issues and the design could certainly be improved.

We have a family room with a lot of windows and the central A/C could not keep up with the Texas heat. Got this window unit to help keep the room cool and it works great. Very quiet and easy to install. The energy saver mode is great. Also has a dehumidifier option which is cool.

This air conditioner operates quietly which is very important to me. I have only had it for 6 weeks but I find it is the best I have ever purchased.
The reason I bought this product is because I bought a LG television 7 years ago and have never had a problem with it.
Looks like I'm a LG product customer for life.

Excellent window air conditioner

This air conditioner does a great job of cooling my large living room. The remote is simple to use and I normally run the fan on 2 and the energy saver mode. It runs quiet and does a great job of cooling.

I love LG products! I had an LG window unit previously and it lasted well beyond seven years, and when it stopped working, I replaced it with this one and it is just
as good! So many features, even a reminder to clean the filter! And as for my old unit, it still works, the cord needed to be replaced, its still cold as ever!
