I've been using this cycle for a month and I'm pleased with it. I use it at home to replace the hand cycle and recumbent bike, I used in physical therapy. It works great. Would recommend.

Great for physical therapy

I bought this for two reasons. One, I'm an overweight individual who has very limited mobility due to severe osteoarthritis in my knees. Trying to lose weight when you have mobility issues is very difficult. My knees are shot. We're talking bone on bone shot, so I have a very limited amount of time on my feet. So I bought this under the premise that some activity is better than none. My knees do hurt when I use this, but they also hurt when I'm sitting down doing nothing. What I like about this is I can pedal for as long as I'm able, then take a break. Pedal a bit longer, then take a break. Much easier than riding a real bike, or even an exercise bike with those tiny seats. The one thing I would recommend is having a chair with good support. I tried using it while on the couch and it just did not work out well. Might also be because I'm short, so if I sit all the way back on my couch my feet don't touch the ground. Once I got a chair with good back support everything was fine. The other thing I'd recommend it to out some non skid under it. Maybe it's just my carpet, which is more than ten years old, but it does slide a bit on me. It's not enough for me to deduct a star because it's easily fixed.
Reason number two I bought this is physical therapy. And this is really where this baby really excels for me. Back in 2003 I broke my right shoulder in three places. Unfortunately it healed incorrectly so I lost a lot of strength and range of motion in it. Surgery wasn't an option. I spent three years in therapy just to get some use back in the arm. I learned to live with it and it became my new normal. Then last year I managed to screw up the rotator cuff in that arm. I also pinched a nerve in my neck that creates issues with the arm. I wound up losing a considerable amount of the minimal strength and range of motion I had. So it was back to therapy for me. After three years in therapy I knew what I needed to do. I already had some therapy that I did everyday lest I lose what little use of the arm I had. But I needed to step it up with the new injury. That's where this baby came in handy. I plopped it up on a table (it's not all that heavy) and voila, a hand bike.
This thing is GREAT for therapy. I can actually use it in two ways. On a good day I can just pedal away using both arms. The really good thing about this is you HAVE to stretch out that bad arm. There's really no way to hold it close to your body and coddle it, unless you put the bike in your lap. And that's what makes it good therapy on a bad day. When I have a bad day and the pain is exceedingly horrible I tend to do just that, coddle it. The less I move the less it hurts, in theory. The problem with that is, if I allow the pain to dictate what little range of motion I have I'll lose it and wind up with a frozen shoulder. So on a bad day I can just grab on with the bad arm and let it hang on for the ride. When used as a hand bike you can actually use one arm to do all the pedaling if you're willing to put in a little extra effort. So my bad arm just hands on is forced to extend and move. It doesn't get the full benefit off the therapy since it's not doing any pushing, but it's getting something.
The bike comes with a timer, although I haven't used it yet. I find having a timer in my face is counterproductive for me because I'm constantly focusing on how much time is left, which just makes it seem all that much longer. I just go as long as I can, glancing at my clock every now and then just so I know how I'm doing.
The other great feature it comes with is adjustable tension. You wouldn't think something so small would have that. Since I do use this for therapy that feature is a really great bonus. I can change the tension sfrom day to day depending on how I feel. Also, I don't have to do my normal pedaling at the same tension as I do my therapy, and vice versus.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it. If you're looking for something to do some shoulder therapy then I double recommend it. I honestly believe that this little bike has been immensely beneficial to my therapy, and certainly been partially responsible for allowing me to keep even the tiniest use of my arm.

I use this every day and for a 67 year old woman who just needs to keep moving, it is a good thing.
