CardScan Is Your Most Critial Biz Tool

When I first read the ads for CardScan in a flight magazine several years ago I was skeptical. After awhile, though, I became overwhelmed by the growing number of business cards in my desk drawer (hundreds). During travel, I often didn’t have the information that I needed for calling or emailing key suppliers, regulatory agencies, trade associations and internal customers. I finally broke down and bought CardScan Executive (color version) in 2006 and now have nearly 1400 contacts in my Blackberry using CardScan. There is no simpler way to convert you paper business cards into powerful communication information (phone, email or text messaging) than by using CardScan synchronized to your contact manager. How many of you continue to stack business cards in or on top of your desk, or in your computer bag, and when you want to call someone from your high tech Blackberry or phone, you dig around to find the card, then dial the number by hand? Imagine this: with CardScan you 1) scan the business card (a few seconds); all the biz card information is automatically placed in the correct contact fields in the CardScan software, 2) you then categorize the contact in CardScan (e.g. Consultant, Insurance, etc.), by checking a box, though this is optional, 3) you check another box that verifies all information was scanned correctly (you'll want to do a 5 second check), 4) the new contact's information is instantly saved to the CardScan software then is automatically and immediately synchronized with Outlook, then 5) Outlook sends the new contacts to your Blackberry within 30-60 seconds and can be used right away. Note: For the synchronization to work, you must instruct CardScan during or after installation that you want the automatic Outlook synchronization to occur. If you don’t prefer automatic synchronization, you can tell it to synchronize only when you manually chose. Automatic, though, is the way to go. So far, the most critical business tools that I own or use are in this order: Blackberry, CardScan, and TripIt (web travel itinerary management tool). If you have hundreds of business cards to scan, do what I did and hire you young son, daughter, niece or nephew to scan them all in. It will take them an hour or two, and then you can simply do the verification when they are done. Don't wait any longer ... go buy CardScan and get more productive with that cool Blackberry of yours!

Extremely Convenient

The best use for me was to scan my contacts, and replicate the details to my e-mail and contact lists (my company uses Lotus Notes). I then synchronise it all to my phone. I would really appreciate if Card Scan had a direct link to word processors like Microsoft Word for mail-merging letters, and with e-mail programs like Lotus and Outlook for mail-merging e-mails. A further suggestion would be to start linking in the online solution of Card scan with address books of web e-mails like hotmail and networking sites like LinkedIN, Plaxo and Facebook. Also, could be made more user friendly.
Pros: Easy Setup
Cons: User friendliness

Have used for years and had no problem synchronising with Notes until now. Got a new computer- and cannot get it to recognise notes. Support is only up to 4.6 - for business use 6.5 should be supported - poor customer support from the updates end
Pros: Excellent Software, Easy Setup
Cons: Poor Lotus Notes synch
