Very good contact management system

I bought my first Card scan excecutive on recommendation from my then CEO. About 6 months later I bought my second unit since I realised I needed one for the home office as well in addition to have one with me on my travels. The ability to scan business cards more or less on the run makes life easy when it comes to adding contacts to your system. Two years after purchase I had a fatal disk crash and even if I had a backup it was not as recent as one could wish for. Imagine my supprise when I reinstalled my card scan software and it just went to the backup on the net and restored my complete contact data base as it had been last time I had cardscan active. The relief was enourmous. I had lost all of my outlook database but at least the contact bit of it was restored by the push of a button. The thousands of missing emails were another story..
Pros: Does contact backup, Easy To Use, Compact, Travels easily, Integrates well
Cons: Price

I routinely sync Card Scan with Outlook & then sync Outlook with my smart phone. When my old computer crashed, I had a backup contacts list on my smartphone and on the Card Scan website.
Pros: Flexible, Easy To Use
Cons: Windows 7 problems

Why stay with the hassle?

I used to manualy edit the contact information from business cards into outlook. I thought the investment into such a small cheasy gadget wouldn't be worth it. How wrong I was! I wouldn't part with my CardScan gadget ever again! You save heaps of time and the CardScan Excecutive just works. Hassle-free business card management at its' best.
Pros: Simple, works

The only Con would be that if you are scanning in an 'out of the ordinary' business card it has troubles recognizing the text (ie, dark colored card with other than black text). Otherwise, this has saved an enormous amount of time getting contact information input into a usable database. Highly recommend this product!!!!

Not enough OCR ability at this price

CardScan is great at figuring out which parts of varied business cards belong in which contact fields. Synch catches changes/adds/deletes on either CardScan or Outlook side and can either sync quickly or give you detailed options about what values to keep/propagate. Hardware and software quality and ease of use excellent. Last I heard, though, CardScan At Your Service, Plaxo-like site for contact updates/access, is going away. CardScan hardware and software will be less without it, but still worth using.
Pros: Easy sync with Outlook, Great OCR
Cons: Web site being shut down

A good little unit. Works well. Got rid of all my business cards and have all my contacts in my Blackberry. An excellent purchase!
Pros: Simple to Use, Relatively accurate
Cons: OCR is not always right

Fast, reliable performance

I can wind up with 100 to 500 business cards after a tradeshow and the CardScan Executive really helps with post-show follow-up. I'd tried other card scanners in the past, but the CardScan's combination of solid hardware and well thought-out, easy-to-use software really beats them all. The only small nit that I can say is that I've had mine for a few years and I wish that it had a micro-USB connector so I don't have to carry an adapter.
Pros: Fast, Trouble-free, Accurate
