I use it for contact records. It's great because it makes it easier to search contacts than a stack of business cards.
Pros: Easy To Use
Cons: Not always accurate, A little bit slow

Great Product - could be perfect

This product works great for capturing business card images and data. The data capture is very accurate if you insert the card squarely and if the fonts are not fancy cursive which is relatively rare. The software falls down - hard - when it comes to synching data. The synch capability is out of date - will not work with current Palm (v 6.0, 6.1, 6.2) nor will it synch directly with iTouch except as an intermediary step through MS outlook. Setting up templates for transfer to other formats is tedious and not very user friendly. Otherwise, the software is flexible and the search function works well. Customer service informed me that these deficiencies will be corrected in a release of the Cardscan software "sometime" in the future.

Cons: Difficult To Sync

Worth the Wait

I had a Cardscan on my last job. This company has always said, there's no money in the budget for it. So I purchased one for myself with my money. Now, all my co-worker want one. And if you use a label printer, it's unbelievable. Simply put, it works.

Excellent time saving gadget

The only issue I have with the product is the inability to migrate two data bases to one. I downloaded the upgrade after a computer failure and was unable to combine the original data base into the newest. As a result, I have two contact files that I have to search.

Know contacts changes before competition

CardScan enables me to keep up-to-date with my customers and prospects as they change positions within their companies or move to new organizations. This has helped alert me to new sales opportunities that I would have otherwise missed. It also helps me to remove outdated contacts periodically from my database. I use CardScan Executive at trade shows to scan each days' collection of business cards. I write notes on the reverse of the cards, scan front and back into CardScan, and then transcribe my handwritten notes from the image on the cards' reverse site into the Notes field in CardScan, which makes the notes available to me in Outlook. Synchronization with Microsoft Outlook works perfectly. I wish that CardScan supported synchronization of *ALL* Outlook fields so that I could have an online record of my contacts' summer addresses which Outlook allows me to record in the set of third address fields in "Other Address." CardScan should also sync the photo of my contacts stored in Outlook. Since there are so few sync applications available, a helpful new syncronization feature would be for CardScan to *ASLO* sync selected contacts (filtered by one or more categories) to my Windows Live Mail contacts account -- the account I use for personal (non-business) email.
